New idea for HA
lxl James lxl
Anyways I'm not here to QQ or gored haha x] I'm just here to showing about my my idea on HA x]
Like you notice some people can't get in group of HA, because other want them to show HA title so they can run in their group right? Well...lets make it like this...how about Anet make a rank server for HA x]
Like this, from R1-3 they join in HA, BUT every1 are in that server are all from R1-3. Then from 3-5, 6-8 and finally 9-15 (= basicly it is like RA or TA but not really since HA are base on fame rank, while most people (like myself seem can't find a group to join to get that rank up)
To make it more interest...from R1-3 when we win Hall we get like somewhat like a HA chest BUT! In beginner chest so that people won't farm off lower rank on chest. Let say it is call the same name as HA chest but it won't drop any high end weapons/shields or mini such as "Crystalline/Obsidian Blade/Eternal Blade or Mini Ghostly Hero" for R1-3 and 3-5 server. (= So when we get up to rank 6-8 and 9-15 server we can get big chest like right now (=
btw my grammars suck, I understand x]

there isn't enough people playing HA anymore to warrant multiple sections of HA for different ranks.

who know right? I mean some people quit HA or tired of HA cause many high ranker are demanding on same rank. So some of those people quit cause of that reason. But it might just work =p I mean there is a Zquest for a reason (= when there is zquests I tried to get my zquest on HA done...but group finding are hard and suffering...so you know how most of us none HA ranker feel about that (=

I propose a new idea based off yours: have a rankless HA room, then a ranked one for 3+. You can switch between the two freely even with no rank, but it might help those who can't get into a ranked group usually.

Just make titles unable to be displayed in HA and remove the emote from the HA location. This way nobody can know what anyone elses rank is, and everyone can get into any group. That, or join a guild who does HA and learn from people with a higher rank. Guilds do exist that 'train' new people for things like this, and you will be earning your rank as you are learning how to be better.

hahaha no.
We don't even need to discuss the technical reasons for why this won't happen - we can skip straight to the ideological ones. For example - pugs suck. r9+ pugs suck a little less than r3 pugs, but only marginally. People think of rank alone as being this huge insurmountable paradoxical barrier to getting into good teams, but it's not. They think you need fame to get fame, but you can't get fame if you don't have fame. Maybe if all anyone did was pug that might be true, and there wouldn't be any r12's if it were, and far fewer r9/10/11's.
Everyone starts off pugging, you won't be forever. If you ever succeed at HA, you'll look upon pugs with contempt at worst, and a waste of time at best. Why? Cause you'll have friends, and guildies. People network in PvP - big time. Who you know and who knows you is worth infinitely more than any title could ever be.
Better make peace with the fact that PvP is a meritocracy, and that if you stink, no amount of fame farming in the world is going to make a difference. If you're r12 you could probably walk into any HA guild you like, but if you suck, people will figure it out and quick and then you'll be capeless. You could make your own guild of course, and hordes of shitters would flock to your guild which would still be lousy because good players know good playing when they see it, and they don't humor bad results for long.
Everyone who makes the kinds of suggestions the OP did have the same thing in common - they fail to realize that if they got into a high ranked pug, they'd be kicked after one, maybe two matches without learning anything more than they would of in the r3 pug. You want up? Then get better. It doesn't matter if your team loses a hundred times, if YOU, the INDIVIDUAL PLAYER get smarter. It's easy - observe matches, research play guides, then practice, practice, practice. If you're getting better, people will take notice. You have to be good before you're going to get into a good team, or guild and stay there, and no rule or title or lack thereof is going to change that. Of course, like I said before, you could farm with nubtrash and end up as a lousy high rank (see above). Whatever.

This is one of the best PvP oriented suggestions I have ever seen on Guru. Ever notice how many poor people are wandering around the International Districts just looking for a group. These people typically don't get into PUGs, since most PUGs won't take anyone who isn't specifically looking for their gimmick build (ie Mathway). Also, you'd be surprised I'm sure to see the number of people in American d1 during peak times trying to find a team, who are unused to the format and don't know that "everyone" groups in International. Most new players are simply discouraged, and have a hard enough time against r3 PUGs, much less guild teams that enter.
My suggestions for entry Heroes' Ascent:
Beyond r3 (my suggestions are designed for a team of r2 and below, possibly with a r3 helping) other entry level HA is not needed.
My suggestions for entry Heroes' Ascent:
- No players r4+ may enter, average team rank must be <= 2
- When a team wins in the HoH, the team name does not display in chat
- Same map sequence as standard HA
- Fame caps at 20 instead of 40 per win standard
- Balthazar Faction received is 60% of standard
- End chest does not give unique drops (ie high-end weapons or Ghostly)
Beyond r3 (my suggestions are designed for a team of r2 and below, possibly with a r3 helping) other entry level HA is not needed.

HA is already dead, splitting it would make it more dead.
I posted this in the HA forum a week ago... it's sort of a split, for the first few maps, and it doesn't decrease the total population:

Add a randomway button.
Seriously. The #1 reason HA is dead is because r0's show up, spend 2 hours forming a shitty pug, lose, repeat a couple times, and ragequit forever. I'm sure everyone knows this. The trouble of finding a group can be avoided entirely just by adding a "Random" button that you can press when you're alone in a party and get matched with other players. (Anet would get bonus points if they actually made sure to put two monks in every group) Then have the system assign a "RANDOM" tag to each group that entered this way and match randomways with other randomways so you would always fight another randomway in UW. After UW (or maybe after fetid) your RANDOM tag is removed and you're free to get rolled by real teams. However, if this works, there would obviously be more random teams than real teams in the mix (see RA vs TA) and you'd still have a high chance of facing a randomway on Fetid and on Burial. That should give new players a chance to try the arena, actually get a bit of fame instead of getting rolled by organized teams right away, and a chance to meet some better players because I'm sure there will be plenty of bored r9's hitting the random button as well. From the point of people who play real teams, this would fill up HA and create more full runs. Oh, and remove the need to "unlock" HA. Whose bright idea was it to make an arena restricted from new players when it desperately needs new players? Of course, balancing the game and fixing stupid victory conditions in HoH would also help. I still want to shoot whoever invented the relic run in halls. Make 3-way matches to be always KotH and 1v1 matches always kill count (needs to be something with no advantage to holding team... elimination would be more fair, but it also needs to fit into the 10-minute time limit). |
