Guild Wars 2 News - Single Player Version
FoxBat
Last we heard it sounded like H/H were very unlikely, at least for general exploration. You get one customizable AI companion you can employ at a cost of your own power instead of a player slot, otherwise it sounded like you would party up on-the-fly in explorables as in most MMOs - meaning you could basically solo much of the time. Missions/dungeons are anyone's guess at this point, but they also stressed the ability to "single play" the game- there will be extra AIs if that's what it takes.
Apollo Smile
They already talked of missions "scaling" depending on how many party members etc. I'm not a bit worried about the solo experience.

Well, we've said several times that you will get information about GW2 later this year. We don't have exact dates announced, though.
GW2 will allow for different play styles, which includes people who like to play alone or in groups. Guild Wars 2 is definitely an MMORPG, meaning online play with the option of joining up with other people to play. |
oh and thanks for deciding to release info soon. its been killing me

"Later this year..."
I seriously think i heard that a bit too much

WoW, LOTRO, and AoC have all successfully listened to their playerbase and implemented the ability to play solo with enjoyment.

In regards to WoW, how is it solo friendly? Because I can do most of the dailies alone? Farm mats, gold, etc.? Okay, cool. Too bad by going strictly solo I miss all of the instances and all of the raids, the supreme focus of the game.
With Guild Wars, on the other hand, there's only three areas that require me to get *one* other person and two that require me to get a couple. Granted the experience may change for others, but speaking as a War with SY! permanently glued to his bar there have been very few areas that gave me problems.

Never seen it said we would get info this year, only that it was assumed or anticipated. And whenever we hear something will be comming out from anet "this month" or "this year" it tends to be the LAST day of the month/year or close to it.
Don't hold your breath.
I say this, because this whole single-player GW2 version misinformation probably spread because there ISNT any GW2 info currently available aside from lore and people are desperate to know anything at this point, if they havent stopped caring entirely.

Thanks Regina.
Anyway, if they were going to make a single player version it seems like it would cause too many problems (hacks/bug abuse) and who would want to play single player when you could play mulitplayer heh? So I'm glad they're not doing this .

It funny that we really do not have any new info on GW2 since they announced the game and when people try to talk about GW2 it gets typoed and mistranslated. I think people just like teasing us fans or they really haven't a clue as to what is going on in the world today.

And what is actually the correct translation.

Wow I was about to abandon Guild Wars if this was true. If I wanted a single player game there's plenty out there, and if I wanted a hybrid I'd go to Diablo 3. Thanks for clearing this issue.

tbh who cares about GW2 information anymore?
It has gotten to be kind of like these talent(less) shows on the TV where they think that leaving a pause of 3 minutes between saying the person who is leaving is....... <insert name here> makes for dramatic tension, when it actually just annoys and bores people.
It appears that a-net have taken the same approach to releasing info, hoping to build up the anticipation and tension, when all it has served to do is annoy people and make them question whether anything is actually happening with a sequel.
Now, add to this the fact that Aion is soon to be released and it doesn't bode well for GW2, I have enjoyed GW for the last few years, never particularly liked wow, aoc, war, lotro, but after playing the Aion beta I know 100% that I will be moving away from GW to Aion because of the way it plays
so what will make me comeback for GW2? nothing unless they are not releasing GW2 until Aion 2-3 years old and starting to get stale. So is this their plan of action? as I know I am not the only person whom is doing this, is the parent company going to hold off the release of GW2 until Aion has bloomed and is dying off?
If this is the path they are taking then it is a slap in the face for the existing GW playerbase, as you will be looking into 2012 until GW2 released if they release GW2 in 2010 in direct competition with Aion I think that GW2 will struggle and any company worth their salt wouldn't seek to release 2 important products to compete with each other.
anyone had similar thoughts about this?

Aion and GW appeal to different crouds, to some extent. I know for a fact I won't keep playing Aion if it really turns out to be a mindless grind fest, though I am planning on give it a try.
But I agree with you, even though I understand why is anet taking this aproach, it got to a point where the lack of information for so long alienated me in a way that I just don't care about it anymore. And I bet a lot of people feel like this, I'm more excited about Aion and the very little I've heard about it than the same old recycled interviews with zero information and 2-year old promises.

It really (really really) helps if you just forget about Guild Wars 2. Go do something. Go play Guild Wars 1, other games, real life...
Sitting on the computer won't make a game develop any faster.
Here's what I think; everyone who's saying "I'm not buying Guild Wars 2 because, it's taking too long, Anet screwed up in Gw1, I found other games, ect ect." They will most likely come back to Guild Wars 2 because of the memories Guild Wars 1 left them. Don't take this personally, but who can't afford a $50 (or w/e your currency is) game?
But I do agree, something needs to be said, even a screenshot in a middle of a deserted area. Seriously, give me a good reason how that could be stolen by "WoW".
