Keep the Snowball Arena
Carinae
Oh man I love Snowball fights!!!!!
While waiting for more Observable games last night, I decided to pop in and play some Snowball.
I got a group with 3 necros (including me) and a ranger. We won 14 consecutive. OK, not a record or anything, but we had a RIOT!!!!
We worked together very well. Covered each other, stole packages, passed off packages and I had a game winning STEAL on the 12th win! (In a 4-all game, I stole the winning present about 2 feet from Dwayna, 3 seconds later one of my teammates scored and we won!)
SUGGESTION: Keep the Snowball Arena open from November 1 thru March 1 annually! Remove the Winterday stuff, but keep this Arena.
SUGGESTION2: If you win 20 consecutive Snowball matches, then all subsequent matches should be Observable!

To add to this suggestion, it would only really be suitable to have this arena in cold/snowy places e.g. Yak's bend and Shiverpeaks. It totally makes no sense to have it at Lion's Arch or Ascalon with the normal weather in those areas
Still, would be nice to have a silly arena hehe

I had been thinking that it would be nice if the Snowball Fight coordinator found his "home away from home" in some place like the Icetooth Cave during the offseason. Besides, I think too many people like to play it regularly to just sack it at the next update.

Some people complain about how it divert from the overall theme. Personally I have no problem with that.
One possible way is to add it not anywhere inthe game, but only accessible from the character log in screen.
And How about just turn your character (or toon) into the Grench or Snowman/small children when they enter the arena? It seem more fun and uniform... just an idea.
And would be good to be able to Earn more snowball skills....

I don't even really like the snowball fight, but it would be a shame to throw it away after all the work they must have done to put it together. /signed!
I would say it should be a permanent arena in the Shiverpeaks somewhere, with the Wintersday serial numbers filed off, so to speak. (I.e., replace the presents with some other sort of collectible, etc)

I like the idea of either year round, or November 1 to March 1, but I do think that when it's not Winter's day, that it should first of all, not be accessible from everywhere, and secondly it should not be named Dywana vs. Grenth during non-Winter's day time... (perhaps when it changes to Dywana vs. Grenth[ie during Winter's day], a bigger incintive could be offered to play during that time.)

Maybe they should hide this arena behind the giant glowing door in the underworld...
"My god! We actually survived all those Ataxes, Coldfires, Smites and Terrorwebs! Now it is time we claim out just reward. Who want's snowcones!?!?"

I really hoped that this funny arena will stay after event's end. Shame on U AN - that was my favourite part of Winter's Event...

The snowball arena was great, period! I'd love to see it coming back, maybe in the form of some winter arena in the Northern Shiverpeaks?
It was not only a great fun but it attracted people to PvP who otherwise would dislike the overcompetitive atmosphere there often is in Tombs or GvG. Most people took Snowballing for what it was: plain, simple fun. I have seen some of my guildies snowballing who'd otherwise avoid PvP like the devil would run away from blessed water. So, snowballing is not only fun, it also could serve as some "transition" between PvE and PvP.

Snowballing is fun but it gets a bit repetitive but its still fun to go in and have a little mess around

It would perhaps be suitable for towns like Yak's Bend or Droknar's Forge since it's actually snowing there the whole year.
But still, the presents would feel a little unjustified...

I've had 34 Conseuctive Wins!
Ok, but it would make sense to have it forge assessible only...I dont like having noobs coming in from ascalon and then it hits u..."how do you leave" "how do you play" Wtf a lvl 4!!?!?!, OMG WE LOST"
It would make sense because forge has a wintery look...so they shud make snowball arena assessible from there ONLY.

Maybe if they made it so that you win by killing people instead of running presents. That would remove the Dwayna/Grenth part. Then they would need to add more snow skills.
Black Snow
Energy 10 Cast 1 Recharge 10
Attack. You hit for 50 damage and cause blindness for 5 seconds.
Nor' easter
Energy 25 Cast 3 Recharge 45
Spell. Cause a large snowstorm at target foe's location. Nearby enemies take 30 damage each second for 10 seconds.
(Kinda like Fire Storm)
Sleet Storm
Energy 25 Cast 5 Recharge 60
Spell. Cause a sleet storm at target foe's location. Nearby enemies take 60 damage and are knocked down every 3 seconds for 9 seconds.
(Similar to Meteor Shower)

I don't know how old this is, and I don't care. They need to make the old snowball fights a permanent arena somewhere in the Shiverpeaks.

That was the most fun in PvP I had in a long time! The skills were basic enough, but still fun to use.

Snowball fights were awesome. I'd do at least a few each time I logged on if it was still there.

This is old but I agreed with it then so I agree with it now.
Peewee
I have a mixed opinion on this one. Sure, snowball fights are cool, but its kinda like asking you if u would have christmas every day of the year. Its special becuase it was a break from the norm, a little bit of sillyness. You make it the norm, and no matter how amazing it seems at first, it will get boring. Keep Snowball fights as a treat, dont make it the norm.

I was hoping they would have added a Valentines, Easter and other special maps/events for each holiday. Who wouldn't want to blast a 20 foot high Cupid with Meteor.

It's special having it only once a year ^_^

In one of the more recent chat logs, something like this was brought up and Gaile said that they will keep them once a year. To keep it special and so that each year, you have something to look forward to. Or something to that effect...I'd have to double-check.

put it in a miniature place, since all pvp ideas should be solid and availible instead of a seasonal event imo.
only downside that might occur is that people will be going to the miniature pvp areas and the heavy pvp areas will get less populated which will increase diffuculty in finding groups and such.
it's already been developed, the argument here is for it to be implemented

i cant see anyone that is a *serious* PvP'er ditching their normal arena fun for the snowball arena, to be honest....i mean, its not realy *serious* to them now is it?
all they have to do is remove *discriptions* that call the skills holiday themed and replace them with winter themed..(so holiday blues might become winter blues or SnowDay blues....the thing that sets all hp and magic to sertain level would nt be yuletide? but Arctic or Frosty ect...)
then simply take the grenth/dwayna avatars out, replace them with a frost golem and make you be taking small frosty crystals to them....
no, you dont get a random prezzie at the end of it...its just snowball for FUN (though i might be ok with small amounts of bathazar favour...as a way to wean non PvP'ers into it slowly)
and if you remember...everyone in the arena had the same hp and mp..and they all had the same skills....there was no arsing about with FotM builds....or iway ect and all there chums....its a good way to get non pvp'ers into it, althought they might get pissed when they *do* get to a proper arena and find all of the above.....
see, by taking out the festive parts *that which makes it REALY special...presents, festive cheer and the gods avies ect* it does becopme more of a common thing....but still, it would be a very good and FAIR way to get folks interested in PvP...its not like you can say 'omg, i was beaten by a frost/monk' now can you....not if the skills are all set by your class...
i would say it is the best fair arena they have ever made....skill and teamwork rather than FotM...since even a lvl 3 noobie has the same skills and hp/mp as a lvl 20 Leet dude....just that the 20 dude will know what to do better with those skills...

So true! There were a lot of anti-PvPers in my Guild that participated in these arenas. Because they were level (same health, same energy) and Random!

But I noticed that nearing the end of wintersday, there were much less people there than at its opening. So I expect that it will decay into a group of regulars and 1 or 2 new people who get owned by the experianced players and then never return.

During wintersday 2005 we had a snowball arena where we had snowball skills and special snowball skills for each profession. Sadly however after Wintersday passed this arena went away. I say we bring this Arena back, its a fun break once in a while from the actual game. We could make it a minigame

The Snowball Fight Arena was one of the better implementations of PvE and PvP combined.
I think that this specific venue should be reserved for Wintersday events, but there should be some similar arena where your skills are generic based upon your profession. Health and energy is the same regardless of level and personal equipment.
Base the entry points in every major city within all current and future campaigns.

Where you can earn Ice Faction points, and trade them for more snowfight skills? Earn the title of "Ice King" or "Queen of Frost"? Can take off all the thing related to the two god and winter's day, and just leave/mod the snowfight part, and put it as a fun arena up in the Mountains.
Esprit
I'd rather not have too many different faction points to earn.
But yeah, the Snowball Arena was fun. Maybe during the summer Grenth will freeze over and give us a chilly reprieve from the weather.

Im so pissed off that I only bought the game this year. I was reading up wintersday on GWiki and I was guttered at what I had missed out.
well. I don't want to sign this. I reckon this event is so great, it would only be natural for Anet to tease everyone by keeping it in the winter season. :P
Oh. wait. It's summer for me in December... me seeing snow would be a turnoff..
Wintersday in July.... wooo!!!
