I don't particularly like the architectural style of the Hall of Monuments, and since it is MY Hall I thought it would be cool to be able to customize it with a theme.
For example, I like the Jade Sea a lot. So I thought it would be cool to have a shiny jade floor and Jade Sea type architecture framing my tapestries. I am thinking of something along the lines of the themes for Guild Halls.
These themes could be available right from the start, but I think it would be better to have to earn them. For example, if I want the Jade Sea HoM theme, I can unlock it by earning a certain rank on (or maxing) the Friend of the Luxons title track.
If they wanted to get really fancy they could have themes as well as certain items available to decorate your Hall, either available for purchase or earned through accomplishments or quests. I don't have a lot of specific ideas about items - maybe a bookcase or suit of armor or candles/torches/different lamps, throw rugs of different colors and designs, plants (ivy hanging between the tapestries might be nice, or lily pads in the scrying pool, lol...or tea candles floating in the pool???). An aquarium would be amusing...I don't know, whatever people think they would like to make their Hall of Monuments more their own.

Eh.... since the Hall will likely have importance in GW2 (which, will be non-instanced), I don't like the problems with lore this would cause in a sequel.
Plus too much time and effort for a minor thing.

I'd rather see older main menu themes brought back. Nightfall in particular.

This concept would be great for a Texmodder to work with, would allow for quite a few variations that could be entertaining

not worth the trouble. I only get there to display title/mini.

It wasn't built by you, you just display your achievements. It was built by someone else that not even the Asura know about, the way they wanted it to look.
You can always ask Anet to give you an Interior Designer NPC that costs you $30 to change the layout. /sarcasm

The architecture is a part of the in-game story, changing it would put holes in future titles.
btw, Whos in their HoM for more then a few seconds anyway?
