I have been playing guild wars for nearly two weeks, and must say its a very good game, supplying me with hours of enjoyment, so much so that I have bought all the extensions for it.

The best times for me, have been while playing with other people, unfortunately this only seems to happen rarely and most of the time it mainly feels like a single player game with the addition of a chat box.
I am not yet level 20, will I get to see more multi play when I reach level 20 or will the situation remain the same?

Even without the multi play it's still a great game, but its so much more fun playing with others, I just wish it happened more frequently.

Most generally you won't find pugs for missions or quests. Your best bet would be to join an active guild and have your guildmates quest and do missions with you. :]

You need to find a good guild, then you can play with them heeps to your hearts content . Later on in the game, you do find a fair bit more people considering the areas later in the game hold more value items than earlier areas. But yeah, your complaint is shared with many other players, although I think if you look hard enough you can always find people to play with.

Yeah, the game is 4 years old, not many people will be doing the missions again. Most will be farming/powertrading/PvPing

Glad you like the game. Well the population is spread over 3 continents because of the extra campaigns and expansion, but it's still very active, even after 4 years. Try to make a small network of friends you like to play with. Join a guild that fits you. The game only starts at level 20. Later on you will meet more people in pve endgame areas and pvp is all about playing with other people vs another team of players. Have fun.

It looks like joining a guild and getting to level 20 are the way to go, my trouble is, with everything being new I am in no particular rush to get to level 20 as I enjoy doing all the missions and quests, but I will get there eventually.

It is reassuring to see others, like myself, have a wish for more party's of real people, so it isn't just a personal grumble.

I can see there is no shortage of players, wherever I go I see gazillions of other people, but I can also see how easy it is to make up your own personal party of hero's, so there is no real need to form a party of players, except for making the mission more entertaining of course.

Anyway other than that one thing, all I can say is brilliant game, right down to the firework displays and freaky little creatures roaming around towns.

You don't need to be level 20 to join an active guild and have fun. Most guilds just want you to be active and that's easy when you have only been playing for 2 weeks

1) Join a good guild
2) Ask them to help you
3) Pugs fail a lot, get to know your guild
4) ????????
5) Profit!

It's a run on joke, but the steps help. Don't be afraid to ask for help.

I am not yet level 20 well, your still doing the tutorial. That's right, getting to max level is a tutorial. So every Guild Wars Campaign starts with a tutorial in a tutorial.

It's awesome to see new players that like the game. Won't be long until you grow old and bitter and start complaining about skill updates and the dev team.

You can still find PUGs, but they're not as frequent as you might've hoped. I usually just hang out with my guild and tag along with whatever they need done. If you ever need any help, hit me up on Jimmothy Lviaquez.

I have never had success with getting Guilds to do missions. But PUGs, yes. You just need to be on at the right time.

This may be a silly question but which districts do you tend to play in , if you wanna meet other people you are best using the American districts. When i first started playing i used to use the European English districts and i sometimes thought i was the only person actually playing the game sometimes but then i went onto the American districts and have never been back to the Euro ones since. So my advice is use only American districs ,preferably districts 1 or 2

Once you reach level 20, go check out Zaishen Challenge quests.

You will always find people that are interest in doing them in group.

If you are in EU districts, you should learn some german because that is de-facto pug language over there.

The Zquests go trough all the missions. Naturally when they come up people pug them in HM. So over time you get your chanse to do em all.

NM missions are easy enough for anyone to do them on NM.

It can be difficult at times finding players in some areas.

Try changing districts, sometimes USA has more people than Europe it all depends on the time of day.

You can use the ctrl and Alt keys one shows the NPCs the other the players if there are a load of players running to or standing around the mission giver you can assume there are quite a few doing that mission.

You are right not to rush there is little reason to, just go at your own pace.

Use the chat channels to see who is looking for players you could fine a like minded player to team up with, mix in a henchman or 2 and your set.

To be honest I find playing in a party to be a terrible experience, half the time they don't even know what there doing, the group splits and then they argue about which way to go.
I never join a party unless the mission requires it, my heroes are far superior to any other player because they do what I tell them to do and they attack the same mob I do which is far more effective.
I will say that when you do find a good party then the mission goes very smoothly but I find them hard to find.

Now most people visit American districts. So if you don't find anyone in other districts, you may want to try the American ones.

When it comes to normal mode, people don't wait much to forma party, if they are there, they may let you in, but don't waste time asking for people or waiting for them to come. The sooner you get a hero for normal mode, there better.

Yep. The tutorial ends when:
- You get to the Port Town of the campaign and unlock access to the Boat icon.
- You get to areas with enemies of level 20 and above and reach level 20 yourself.
- You make the signet of capture quest.
- You ascend and can change secondary profession.
I Factions and Nightfall that's around reaching the port town. But in Propheces it spans until the Crystal Desert! Talk about a long tutorial!

Of course, all campaigns start with a basic tutorial in an area you will never be able to go back again once you leave. But as you said, it's a tutorial inside a tutorial

3 things, 2 of which have been said a number of times:

1. Join a guild

-A good guild will help you out when needed and play through stuff with you even if it's just for fun. Lots of people still have characters to work on at various places throughout the game, and lots of times folks are just wanting a break from what they normally do =). Also, if you join a guild with daily/weekly/bi-weekly activities, you'll be able to group with a whole bunch of other folks and do exciting and more difficult areas.

2. Do the Zaishen Quests once you've finished a campaign or two

-PUGs (Pick Up Groups in case you didn't know) have become wildly popular again with the introduction of the Zaishen Quests. Once you're comfortable with some of the missions and quests throughout the game, try to get a good group from the closest town and do the mission/quest with them.

3. Recruit a friend

-Even if it's only one person, it breaks up the monotony of playing by yourself with 7 AI heroes and/or henchmen. Having my girlfriend play with me throughout the game has made it feel wildly more "multiplayer" even though it's just one more person. A friend to go through the campaigns with you will make it a whole lot more fun, as well as give you more insight into all of the professions (assuming they play something besides what you do).

Good luck! Hope you can further enjoy Guild Wars.

That pretty much hit the nail on the head there - PvE has reached the point where you can H/H (Heroes & Henchmen) anything. Partying is pretty much optional, so when people do decide to party they do it with friends and people they know they'll have a good time with.

The main point has been covered - Find a good guild and make some friends.

Anyway if you ever find yourself in need of a monk be sure to look me up - IGN: Sant Leo

EDIT: Oh also if your not level 20 rember that most of the players have been playing a long time, and have done the low level quests to the point of insantiy. At this point a lot of people simply rush through them as quickly as possible.
