Hi, just today Arow (A Guildie) told me that he could only hear static from my voice in vent. So I restarted vent, and tried checking if sound recorder would pick me up, it didn't. I then went to restart my computer, and I can only assume it overheated as when I pressed the power button it looked like it was loading up but the monitor was black.
This has happened a few times, so I just left it for 40 mins. After managing to get it to start up, I loaded up Sound Recorder, and it picked up my mic. I then went to open vent, and they couldn't hear me. I then went back to Sound Recorder a second time and it wouldn't pick me up. So I restarted again, BOOM it won't load up again.
I haven't changed any settings today, and I am a bit confuzzled as to why it isn't working.
Any ideas?
Microphone + Vent + PC Overheat

Did you actually check temperatures when this was occurring? This seems more like a RAM/PSU issue than an overheat.
I would advise using SiSoft Sandra to analyze any potential temp issues, as well as voltage/stability issues.

First I am going to try fix the microphone problem, so going to reinstall sound driver now.
Update: No effect with the Microphone. I have a feeling that it will be ok in the morning though, had this problem before.

so you ask for advice, advice is given, then you do your own thing anyways.
pointless thread is pointless ?

No, its just that I had no idea how to use the thread. It didn't work what I did, and I think the mic is bust anyway.
