Which one? (Game)

I know this question has been asked many times in many different ways. Here is my predicament:

I am getting paid next week and am looking to pick up one of the expansion games. I curently only have prophecies. I am looking for an expansion that will give me a good set of skills that I can merge together with prophecies/core skills to make a good build for the metagame farming uw/fow/ect.

Factions/Nightfall/Eotn

Which one? And what build(s)?

Thanks,

-Wandering One

The good commonly used farming builds require all parts. I guess you could maybe farm something having factions+eotn, but i can't find a pair for prophecies.

Don't think about 'metagame' or farming if you're just getting into the game deeper. You don't really need to farm here - unless you desire all the high-end crap out there, you're fine on your own, just playing the game through. Better read a bit on wiki and pick a part that you would like playing or do like i did - buy and complete the campaigns in chronological order =)

That's the thing. I have basically done everything I could want to do in order to complete the prophecies campaign. I have done all the missions/side quests/ect. I want another one of the guild wars games to create a new character and play through the game, and then once I am done with that farm/ect.

Why starting a new character?
The Guild Wars world is all connected. Once you've completed the prophecies campaign using your e/me, you can buy Factions and travel with your elementalist there, completing it, exploring Cantha and gaining titles from Factions. Starting a new character is optional, not required - you can use one to complete everything, see everything and most likely do everything (or at least most of things).

Yes I understand this. I know how the game works. I am simply trying to ask which would be the best game to use in accordance with prophecies that would allow with the best profession/skills combos that I could use after I play through the games to use to farm/ect. If I were to purchase another one of the games, I would be creating a new character to try out the new classes which obviously is why I would purchase another game to begin with. You make no sense.

Ok then - to be able to successfuly farm/ect, you need everything =)
Would be just easier to check here yourself anyway.

I have been to that page many many times. I do not have the time nor patience to view every single build and figure out if any of them only need two sets of games to complete the skill set.

You can try out the new classes as a secondary you know. I would find it annoying to start over again, not to mention that the non core professions are neglected.

They are, it's just a pain in the buttox to go to Temple of the Ages, and attempt to find a party with my basic prophecies Echo Nuker. It's very basic and old buid. But it works just fine and is just as effective. I love the game, and still play it just to play it. But at the same time I want to be able to have just a single character to be able to farm with and make some money when I need it. I am constantly changing the builds/weapons/armor to my "play" classes, and every once in awhile I will scrap a character and make a new one with professions I haven't used before in combination with one another in order to keep the game interesting.

You can basically farm a lot with ele later if you need money - one and two, plus there are several builds for the UW. You can tank, even elite areas, with your ele. Heck, you can even be a quite good healer with ele.
Farming vaettirs and raptors with your main char is even a better idea cause of getting additional reputation points and exp.

The truth is that in order to fully explore the game and be able to actually play and feel it, you need to get each part of it and spend some time to get more skilled and understand it better.

If finding a party is a problem, i'd just consider joining a guild and/or getting NF for Cry of Pain - cryers are always wanted. But still, really, starting a new char without exploring the one you have first - if you still like it - is most likely a waste of time.

..... All of those builds require more than just one additional game. I can only afford one at the moment.

Cause the simpliest answer is: you won't run any decent, used farming build using prophecies+something.

When i explored the game, though, the money weren't a problem - i had what i needed long before i completed prophecies. Farming comes handy later, when you've completed the storyline and you want something more, or you want to get that nice skinned scepter you saw people carry around. Seriously, you can get some money from just playing the game, especially in eotn.

I'd rather suggest to find a guild and learn to play your character first, learn pulling, using heroes, playing with other living players and bother about specific builds a bit later.

That said, i would get Nightfall or EotN if i were ele - savannah heat <3 (and CoP from nf), plus heroes and inscriptions ftw for newcomers.

Ok I am sorry. I am probably going to get kicked/banned from this sITE for what I am about to say. I AM NOT A RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOING NOOB. I KNOW HOW THE GAME WORKS. I HAVE BEEN PLAYING GUILD WARS FOR ABOUT 2 YEARS NOW. I ONLY ASKED WHICH ADDITIONAL GAME I WOULD BE MOST LIKELY TO MAKE A NICE FARMING BUILD FOR. I HAVE BEATEN THE ENTIRE GAME ON ALL 4 OF MY CHARACTERS AND ON ABOUT 8 DIFFERENT CHARACTERS TOTAL. YOU ARE AN IMBUSIL. YOU CANNOT READ AND HAVE WASTED MY TIME. ALL YOU HAVE SAID IS "YOU NEED TO PLAY THE GAME AND EXPLORE"...GUESS WHAT? I RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOING HAVE. I KNOW HOW TO PLAY MY CHARACTER, AND ALL THE CHARACTERS I HAVE MADE FOR THAT MATTER.

Soz, your question has been answered.

The deal is - there are nice farming spots in EotN, but you need skills from factions and nf in order to work there properly. There are some spots in factions/nf/proph, but they're harder without pve only skills from EotN.

Congrats for playing 2 years only in prophecies, thought - i'd got bored.

if i were u i would get nightfall,i enjoyed playing nightfall more than factions and it has better skills overall imo. Also depends if u would want to try the new professions aswell ritualist and assassin for factions or paragon and dervish for nightfall.

Sad thing is that only permasins are sought for in pve, sometimes imbagons are useful, but it's pretty hard to find a decent non-byob-guild group as non-core, as someone above already stated.

These days you can usually find the Trilogy for the same price as a single campaign. I would suggest getting the Trilogy, which will basically give you both of the other campaigns for the price of one. Then you will have access to all skills except those from EotN. (You can add a Trilogy key to your current account. The Prophecies part of the Trilogy is wasted, since it overlaps what you already have, but it still gives you a bargain on the other two.)

If you want a good build you should get all campaigns. End of story. Besides, you didn't tell us what profession you're playing...

This is the best and most plausible suggestion I've seen so far.

While it's true that most current farming builds utilize skills from all 3 Campaigns and EotN, you can always put together a build that has the best skills from whatever you have available. They might not be as efficient as the status quo, but they should be workable.

Factions is a waste of time IMO, unless you really like bad PvP. Having said that, grab Nightfall for the ability to add heroes with more stuff to actually do than EotN which is nothing more than farming or rich people getiing run everywhere. And while the trilogy is nice, it doesn't include Eotn (I may be wrong about this though).

I'm sure you can farm with just the prophecies skills. I remember farming ectos in UW with an old W/Mes build despite everyone using W/rit you don't necessarily have to use the build every1 else uses.

To be honest you should buy a game for the campaign because once you've farmed for a couple of weeks and got what you want its boring.

IMO its between Nightfall and EOTN due to heros. Heros add a whole new dimension to the game as rather than just choosing your own skills you now have a team. Personally I'd go with Nightfall. However if you want difficulty go for EOTN.

Just be aware that the end game Nightfall missions and most of EOTN are several times more difficult than prophecies.
