Hello.
Paragon wasnt touch by last update, and thats the end. Im not playing it any more as my main char.
I would like to create some core class.
I think that dmg/interrupter is all i need to have fun.
Here is my problem. Which class is better at interrupting, require fast reaction time and is fun to play?
This description matches ranger and mesmer.
Could you give me any advices how are your experiences in long tittle grinding and farming with those two classes?
I am focusing on interrupting, dmg and fun ;=]
thx

Mesmers can be used in a lot more elite areas, from what I know. They do massive damage with Backfire, Vision of Regret, Cry of Pain, and Empathy.

My main is a Mesmer that runs mainly domination magic and carries a couple of interrupts, including CoP. I'm always having fun with her, unless the lag gets bad. Makes interrupting a challenge. hehe

imo ranger, rangers r extremely good in pvp & pve, they can splinter barrage which is like crazy dmg, Incendiary Arrows+ignite arrows is crazy AoE dmg too, mesmers r only good in pve because of CoP ...
Johny bravo
Rangers are a lot more versatile in PvP (RA/TA/HA/GvG/HB) and PvE, but may find it hard to get into groups for elite areas. Mesmer are always useful in HA & GvG and have actually come into play in elite PvE areas now due to some buffs to a few elite skills and CoP, but you may find it hard getting into pugs for primary quests missions.

I have a ranger myself as a main, and I really enjoy it. But I also love playing my mesmer, I just don't really have the attention span to play two pve-chars so I just stuck with my ranger since I had it longer. It's definetely the easier class if you're starting out.
But I think both are great, I'd just choose the one you think has the nicest armors.
PS: if you really want to learn to play a character in pvp I can recommend ranger, it's very versatile and you can get really good it at, after a while.
One good ranger can carry team. (I'm not talking HA-gimmicks now)

My vote is for mesmer
they are just plain fun to use and they have more options when it comes to high end pve areas.
plus i just dont like rangers

Wow - where did all the Mesmer love come from? The most neglected class in PvE is suddenly flavour of the month? About time too - but...
Ranger for me - interrupts/conditions/damage from a (relatively) safe distance ^_^

It depends on if you want to be a Physical or a Caster, really. Mesmers are much more of a force to be reckoned with in PvP, as their skills really shine there, and yes, they are used in high-end PvE as CoP-cannons.
Rangers are good at a lot of things, like Snograt pointed out. Damage, interrupts, conditions - they are simply amazing.
Then again, both Mesmer and Ranger are Core Professions, which are my favorite to play anyways. While I don't have a huge problem with any of the Canthan and Elonian Professions, I just feel like the Core Profs were balanced much better. The others feel rushed to me, and come off as gimmicky.
My suggestion, try both out, then decide (or play them both, which is the best choice - well, more personal opinion, but then again, I get so many Mesmer items as drops when I'm on my other toons, lol).

On a different note, if you plan on doing pvp, or very critical interrupts, you will need a good internet connection and low pings or you'll find the whole experience frustrating, more so with a mesmer in my opinion.
