I want to run Smiteway on my Derv for the fantastical light show (as well as the severe destructive power) for when I get bored of Sabway / Dischordway and when doing a few specific dungeons.

I'll just be using the standard Smiteway skill bar for my heroes, but what bar should I be running?

Perhaps a 130 HP Derv build? Or something with an Avatar? Basically what I want to do is just to have enough defense to ball them all up for my heroes to wreak havoc on them.

Suggestions, tips, advice? If its worth noting, I have access to all four campaigns and the BMP.

Thanks in advance. :)

Great Dwarf Armor or Conviction should be enough defense to tank. Windwalker Insignias can be tacked on to make you feel better. I wouldn't use Melandru because of Smite Conditions though, nor Dwayna. Balthazar can be cool, but his holy damage is useless with AoHM around and the armor buff ain't that great with GDA being a non-elite. HM makes less use of Lyssa because monsters cast faster and generally not that useful against melees. Grenth prob wins the avatar war because he can do +18 damage (5+18+23 = +45 damage per swing) and hits through enchanted foes that are blocking.

Wounding Strike, Reaper's Sweep, Avatar of Grenth, or maybe even Ebon Dust Aura would be your best bets.

In my opinion avatars are great fun to run in pve. Lyssa is really good for pve cause most of the time enemies are casting/ doing something that will make the damage huge. Plus you get one pve skill to keep up forms permanently. You can pretty much run whatever you want though for dervish. I wouldn't suggest 130hp unless your doing some kind of farming. Because you don't need that build. Triple smite= conditions are not a problem for the most part. Hexes can be a little bit more annoying but fine non the less. You just want to run something you can get in there hit them with a good amount of damage and let smite damage aid in it.

Scythe elites are good but if you want a bit more protection you could do something similar to Avatar of balthazar for armor and movement speed. Otherwise just run some form of damage and blaze through it. Being able to inflict deep wound can help the team immensely.

Lyssa can still be pretty good even in hm. Even melees/ physicals use attack skills and other skills. Use an increased attack speed and you can still be hitting them through casts and what not.
