Ok, so the April update was great… but now we want more! So I came with an idea to make custom PvE skills without breaking the already cracking PvE.

This is broken into many parts and is extremely hard to organize. So Bare with me, here is a summery: Those that don't read this DON'T get the readers award.
You can create custom PvE skills, the skills has a formula that you add points to make the skill stronger. You can add or subtract total points to the skill. The max points = 10, which you can use on customizing the skill. The stronger the effect (75% chance to block), the more points it uses (-4). If it has a negative effect (exhaustion), it adds more points (+2). There is bonuses that you can use, but the skill activates only when a condition is meet. The animation equils the skill type. If it is an enchantment, you can use previous animations with a different color hue, samething with AoE, double strikes, hex spells etc. Keep in mind the balancing and other things isn't complete.

You get skills by getting 1 gold Zaishen Gold to trade for Custom Skill Token (which is trade able). Give it to a Skill Maker and it brings up a selection menu (must like the picture example but not sucky). There you can obtain custom skills and you can level the skills by trading skill points to him.

Making Custom Skill Tokens trade able and Star of Transference actually worth something with make a insane money dump.

Let’s get to skill leveling. These of course have no attributes. So they get stronger with, get ready for it, skill points! You must spend skill points to Skill Makers.
Required amount of skill points:

Code:
  Level = Skill Points
  2 = 2
  3 = 4
  4 = 5
  5 = 7
  6 = 10
  7 = 14
  8 = 16
  9 = 20
  10 = 22

To get 1 custom skill to max is 100 skill points.

When you create a skill, you get 10 points which you can spend on a skill. The numbers next to the skill indicate the amount spent and gains (-2, +1, -3 etc.)

Here is a picture example:

Dumb idea is dumb. we don't need moar skills. in fact, in gw2 they said they're probably greatly decrease the number of skills available and just give the skills a greater range of applications.

EDIT : Also, this would be SO easy to abuse. make yourself attack considerably slower as a caster (attacking doesn't matter) ect. You could very VERY easily make some considerably broken skills.

I can appreciate all of the time you spent but isn't pve easy enough? I mean people are ripping through uw @ 19 mins on a typical uwsc. Before pve only skills a clear could take 2++ hours??

Good, original idea. Simply, Unnecessary.
You can vanq a 8man area in HM with you and 3 heroes.. No need for anything easier

It was a bad idea every other time someone suggested adding user customizable skills, including tables to show how it would work does nothing to diminish that bad.

So, in short... no.

This.

PvE skills were bad idea to start with, adding more sure won't help. And the balance is hard to do with 'fixed' skills, so no need to add more factors into balancing equation.

Being able to modify practically any factor will just lead to sacrificing stuff thats absolutely useless to that profession and in return get some uber powerful gimmick.

As screwed up as PvE is, that doesn't sound like fun. One of the biggest /notsigneds I've given.

Pve only skills are too powerfull already. Some of them (cry, PI, Finish him, U move like a dwarf...) are waay better than a few elites so I can't see any point in stimulating this area of gameplay.

Minmaxing abuse potential should be just too damn obvious.

Hmmm...if Anet already can't cope with balancing the skills as they are nowadays, I'd hate to see them screwing it up even more with your idea of an infathomable amount of skill variations.

Maybe something for GW2

I like the general idea but not his application. My idea was something slightly different;

1 Elite PvE only skill : Drag and drop one skill from your secondary profession onto this skill in your skill bar, that skill will now utillize your primary professions main unique attribute.

This has been suggested many times, but I'm surprised you've actually figured a way that you think it may work.

However creating your own skills is not a good idea. First of all it can put the game completely out of balance, no matter how much you say it won't.
Second it would reguire too much to actually put in so even if it WAS a good idea it wouldn't happen with the current development of GW2.

If works in Elder Scrolls because it is a single player game.

But fir this one, its too much work for a single skill, when we have more than 1300 already.

I like the idea of being able to make your own unique skill. I don't like that idea anywhere near the realm of GW. I can see farms being dominated by the use of these customized skills, which would eventually end up not being customized, because people would start using the same kind of skill setup for certain farms or team builds.

this seems like it would be extremely complicated to be implemented while at the same time easily abused by the community. it will be near impossible for anet to forsee every possible farming exploit that could be done with custom skills.

Don't really care.

Actually, I'd kind of like to see it, just because it would be something new. And for delicious exploits.
