I live in England, and I wanna play Guild Wars with my friend in America using the Collector's Edition (since that's the version she has). I was wondering if this would be possible...
Sorry if it's a stupid question.
Region-Based?

Yes.
Better know it now than never.

There are region-based "districts", but you can travel freely throughout them.
Elder III
Once in-game look in your top left corner of the screen: click on the button to switch districts: you will have an option to select other districts, including other regions (ie: International, American, Korean, etc.....) - you can also choose the region/district when you map travel from one spot to another.

As others before me said, yes you can change via the districts up in the top left.
But doing this will raise your ping higher, which doesn't really matter for un-competitive play, it will only be about 200ms higher which isn't so bad.

You don't need to have the collector's edition just because your friend does. The gameplay is the same in all editions, so you will have access to the same quests and missions no matter which version of a campaign you are running. The CE just gives you some extra shiny stuff in the box and in the game. Don't waste your money unless you want the baubles.
