Question on custom soundtracks

I looked at the guide awhile back about having your own music edited to play instead of the game's own tracks. I've noticed that some areas will switch between original and tracks I've purchased from direct song at random. If I were to take some of my other soundtracks (from CD/MP3), would they also be effected at random the same way?
