Have you tried to install new drivers?? If you havent here is a link to the new ones http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_185.85_whql.html

If the new drivers doesnt fix your problem I would try just to re-seat your video card and make sure you clean it off good.

looks like a driver problem but just a further question does this only happen on guild wars and if it is do you play any other games

My first guess would be overheating. Make sure all fans are running and clean any accumulated dust out of all heatsinks.
Next guess would be bad RAM - either on the video card or the main RAM.

3rd guess..... video card is boinked.

hey there,

I used to own that graphic card, nvidia 8600gt, dont know about yours but mine used passive cooling and i experienced same thing to your picture shows but it was'nt when i started using gwx2 and it used the hell alot of resources from the card and lot more heats produced as the result, i used HWmonitor to monitor the temperature.

I dont actually know the exact problem but i agree to someone said it here, that overheating is very likely. I upgraded to hd4850 recently and the problem gone away since, no freezing no weird picture. And btw, if you experience that again, just minimise gw and maximise it again.

Hope that helps you in someway.

edit: what is your monitor resolution?

1 - download and run CCleaner

2 - download and run Auslogic Disk Defrag

3 - Update your video card driver

*** If above does not work***

1 - replace your gw.dat file using the -image command (search forums here for detailed instructions)

*** still no luck???***

1 - Open case/tower and blow out all dust with Canned Air (you can buy at Staples or some such store).... get it good and clean.. but do not touch any internal components with your hands, as to avoid static electricity)

***still having trouble???***

1 - Check prices on new video cards.

!!!!!!!!!!!!! if you could post your system temperatures here that would help allot - my favorite free program is Everest Ultimate Edition.

Going off the fact that those are simply misplaced textures...

I would say your GW.dat is corrupted, and is corrupting due to bad RAM (memory) I would advise running a memory stress test and seeing how your PC fairs on that.

Download and run this:
http://www.mersenne.org/freesoft/

You won't need to create an ID just for torture testing your memory.

Once you open Prime95, select a Torture Test from the menu, and have it focus on only memory. Run it. When it fails in under 1 min, post here.

Ive heard of problems with the Nvidia 8600, i used to own one and had similiar problems, but usually just texture issues, e.g. my character looked chrome.
In terms of the graphics problem, have you tries moving your graphics settings from high to low to high a few times? That used to fix it when i had mine.
