I appreciate this is a somewhat controversial topic as I seem to remember a few months ago people having big debates about it...

But do we know for sure that r8 and even r7 items still drop?
I only ask because i've only had a handfull of max r8 weapons in my time playing, but the last one was at least nine months ago.

I had a r8 max armor motivation shield drop a few months ago. I think it was after Christmas.

I know that they removed req.7's along time ago, I've been able to get req.8's every since them, though they are rare.

As far as I know, r8s still drop across the campaigns, but are rare.

r7s I think only drop extremely rarely in Prophecies, just - Don't hold me too that ^^

I'm sure only the obscurity of R7's make it an unbelievable drop but I havent seen any information on the apparent "halt" to theyre dropping, so in my opinion they still drop.

A friend of mine received a max, gold Celestial Shield q7 recently in Naphui Quarter. Was in normal mode.

Got an max r8 Shield of the wing a couple months back. Haven't ever gotten an r7 tho

Brilliant, thanks guys. Looks like its still up in the air...
I guess I could just watch high-end for a while and ask people selling r7's, see how many are 'oldschool'.

You would get the answer on every of em mostlikely.

I havent seen confirmed r7 drop since 2006, but seen/heard loads r8 drops.

Same here - AL16 r8 Mot shield, inscribable. Except this was just in the last week or so.
