Survivor in Cantha
Euphemism
I've been working on a Legendary Survivor character and have been making my way through the prophecies campaign. Since this is pretty much my second character, and I haven't played in Cantha beyond the quests needed to reach Kaineng Center, I was wondering if there are any particular places, missions, or bosses I should watch out for. (Question also applies to Elona, though I've made it up to Rally the Princes there with my first character)
Like the bugged cinematics in Vizunah Square. Or, for instance, the Drought. Or Chromatic Drakes - I was instantly spiked to death by a group just recently... much fun.
Or just where to stop with the missions and go elsewhere for a while. I've heard I should avoid doing Vizunah Square, and since there's no way around it except doing it, I guess my jaunt into Cantha is going to be pretty short!

Hanging Man
Watch out for soul explosion from afflicted
if your balled up and a couple afflicted die you can wave bye bye to that title.
watch our for jade knights and mages. Dragon stomp reaaallly hurts and with warriors running triple chop it doesn't help out much.
really anything other than those I'd say isn't too big a problem.
My advice on the Vizunah square do not run with pugs and only go with people you trust.

I tend to avoid quests that lead to the Undercity. Just personal preference due to the not so nice ele boss thats there, I'm sure others do just fine. You've already identified Vizunah as a potential issue but I've had 6 survivors go through it without racking up a death, even with an mm. As Hanging Man said avoid a pug if possible. I'd always advise trying to make the other team pure henchmen too - you know they'll be consistent and follow you the entire way. Other tricky missions can be Arborstone (ceiling collapse can be ick) and Unwaking Waters (Kuunavang in a tight space). I wasn't brave enough to do Imperial Sanctum with the Ritualist survivor I got there, every other mission was fine though.

or if you dont wanna do campaign.. you can do the cheating way in eotn with you no KILROYS dungeon

What class are you? Just out of curiosity...
Imperial Sanctum isn't that big of a deal for a survivor. (It's the last mission) Without giving away too much spoilers, keep your distance from the boss (he has some skills that can decimate anything nearby him) and when the boss starts meditation and you can't seem to make him snap out of it, simply rezone.
Cantha shouldn't be too big of a deal minus the things addressed already. As for Elona, there is this one quest called 'a man's dream' or something like that. You meet a gardener who wishes to embark on a quest to find a magical lamp. You rub it three times and out of nowhere, a ruby djinn boss and a bunch of other djinns appear. They wiped my party after about 3 seconds... I would try to get the survivor out of the way before the desert. Realm of Torment can be little dangerous at times.
Getting busted sneaking around in this one mission used to party wipe quickly, but it seems to have changed recently. Just watchout for possible spikes. In consulate docks, there are sometimes archers sitting on top of the stairs. They usually spike the first foe to come into their sight, so... yeah...

For Elona I would recommend you be mindful that if you die in the wurms (which can happen) it will count as a death. I would avoid, at all cost, anything in the Realm of Torment. That area can be annoying.
Everyone else has made good points about Factions. Just be sure to read Wiki before each mission an know what to expect. You may not want to concentrate on mission bonuses or masters rewards that are tied to a time restriction. If you get it then great if not then come back later and get it. There is no point rushing through a mission for masters if you end up dieing because you were impatient. Good luck....Glad to see there are people who are still willing to get survivor by playing through the game.

I'm playing Ranger. It was the class I liked the most when I first played GW almost four years ago, it's the one I'm focusing on now that I'm restarting again. Also makes survivor easier, with higher armor and a ranged weapon.
I just checked the wiki about Vizunah Square - it seems like you're randomly matched up with another team. Any way to force a team of henchmen?
Also, I've been avoiding PUGs. It's not fair to them, and likely to be bad for me.
Thanks for the advice, everyone!

Parties can only begin a mission every 60 seconds. When you attempt to start the mission, the game will start a timer that shows how long until the next 60 second interval. Every 60 seconds, all parties waiting to enter the mission will do so. The game will try to pair parties from opposite starting locations, though if one has more parties starting than the other, excess parties from that side will be paired with henchmen teams. You can try to get paired with a particular party from the other side by having both parties attempt to start the mission at the same time. Parties may be paired from different regions or different languages. As such, communication with the other party may be impractical. Another common problem is that you may be paired with a low level party from the other side, sometimes too low level to be of any practical use in the mission. In such cases, it is much easier to restart the mission than to try to give the low level player from the other side a free run through. It is highly recommended that all players and heroes be level 20 before entering the mission. Unlike most missions, trying to do this one at a low level not only makes things harder for you, but also can sabotage someone else on the other side who merely wishes to get past the mission. There are many easy quests in Kaineng City which can level you very quickly. It appears that even if you try to bypass the system by going to an unused district (something international) then you can still wind up getting paired up with people on the American server. I have never really tried this and can't fully answer your question. The above is all that I could find on either of the WIKI's. nkuvu
For Vizunah Square, the typical approach I hear people recommend is to close the game as soon as the last cinematic starts. When you restart the game, you'll be back in the mission outpost -- but Dragon's Throat (the next outpost) will be unlocked, and you can continue from there.
I haven't taken any survivors through Viz personally, so I can't guarantee this approach. The forth fly
get a runner for zen daujin costs about 500g do the easy quests in KC to get to lv 20 avoid undercity.its risky to do Tahnnakai Temple so i normally stop there and move on to NF missions there are easy till you get to grand court, then cap some elites, boxing is to boring for me

Well, there goes that survivor character. Got a bit careless during Hell's Precipice after doing it for the fifth time or so and /resign was about half a second too slow. Haven't even tried Vizunah square yet :P
Well, now that she's died, I can take some DP in Hell's to finish it and then remake, then see if I can get the next one up to 20 fast enough to try to take advantage of vanquishing weekend. Maybe. Lost quite a bit of motivation there. Edit: Argh, and on practically my first try afterwards I beat it with no problems. Delilah Sureshot
Try to start your survivor over, if you feel like it anyway. And make sure you are in a guild, if not, start a guild of your own or join one.
On difficult areas press G, then by one press on the guildhall button you'll be taken to the guildhall directly without any interruption. It's the quickest way out of a difficult situation I've found out. Resign, mapping, logging out can all be too slow and fatal. Euphemism
For various reasons I can't join a guild right now. So I'm currently trying to buy a defunct guild for cheap :P
I did restart my survivor, and it seems I didn't learn my lesson from last time - don't play when you're tired. Here goes attempt #5. Or maybe it's 6. Ariena Najea
I spent over a year and a half getting tier three Survivor, without doing any of the easy methods. I solely did Missions, Quests, and Skill Caps. I went through more than 20 characters in this process =)
If you ever want a hand in-game with this, I'd love to help another person who wants to do it "the right way". Delilah Sureshot
Yeah, it can take quite a bit before you actually get a legendary survivor. If you do it the right way anyway. One small mistake and you're done with.
Currently trying with a ranger, using barrage for attack, flagging my heroes/henchman towards enemies, and running protective spirit all the time. The easy way is boring, it's more fun to do it through missions/guests and skillcaps. And, yeah, when you're tired it's best not to play your survivor. Just play another char and run him through parts you find difficult so you know exactly what to expect with your survivor. Highlander Of Alba
By Playing the game to achive it is a good thing as
Not only does it let you obtain your title but it makes you more aware of the game itself some areas i said to myself hey whats this never noticed it before ect I have never boxed once....and have LS on various accnts So go for it and just be a little aware and some good advice posted somewhere above....Come of it if you have Lagg..dont know how often I got zapped by that one...from rank2/3 can be a liitle bit of a time effort Good luck in your endevour |
