The dreaded Charr Prophets!
Ryan Bucek
I'm having such a hard time with these guys! I'm doing Ebon Van Guard Dungeon full of these guys and they take forever to dispatch! lol
I've been trying to use D-Shot and Savage shot but when there is more then 1 prophet it's pointless. I've also tried to get around them but the hexes get me lol
Any tips or helpful advice?

If you need mass interrupts go for [Choking Gas][Practised Stance] and an IAS like [Flurry].

I've always found AoE damage very useful against Charr since they like to clump up nicely. Add in Ebon Battle Standard of Honor and it's goodnight.
I've never found the Prophets to be much of a problem to be honest. Their healing is consistent but not very potent, and they can't heal themselves very well. Overwhelm their healing capability by using AoE so they have to split their attention between themselves and their team. They can't keep up with the damage.

The archers are far worse.

BHA/Epidemic and Cynn. She likes Meteor Shower.
MisterB
Knock down, daze, pressure, AoE, etc. Broad Head Arrow if you are a ranger. Spiking them works, too.
Ryan Bucek
Thanks for all the adive I'll go for using the BHA/epidemic and Cynn first and if I fail I'll work on the other suggestions.

I think that this thread belongs to EotN Explorers' forum ... in any case, most of the time Charr Prophets are accompanied by a Dominator which you should kill first since it's the hard rezzer. Thus, daze any Prophet(s) while killing the Dominator and you should be fine.

If you are a ranger, bring Frozen Soil, kill the Prophets with Broadhead Arrow + Vanguard Sin Support or some other form of knockdown (YMLAD isnt as much damage as sin support but it works in a pinch ) and then go nuts.
Squishy ftw
Personally I've always found the charr in EOTN to be a joke (excluding full ranger groups). They always bunch up so nicely that they're just asking for aoe to be abused. Bring splinter, ar, a fire and an earth nuker and you'll walk right through them. (I normally run ES myself for some sexy aoe kd)
makosi
I run Sab/Discord heroes and I rarely have issues with Prophets because the minions' explosions overpower them, and the spikey damage of Discord is so strong. Ebon Vanguard Assassin Support and Sniper Support are both great anti-Charr tools.
I have more of a problem with the rangers with Ignite Arrows and interrupts, and the mesmers with Resurrection Chant and Power Block.

I find Dominators and Wardkeepers to be considerably more annoying. Seekers (?) I would consider troubling as well if you have any heroes or henches in your party, because the AI just goes to an evasive frenzy if the Charr start raining explosive arrows, regardless of how strong those explosions are.

Its like most places with monks - when they hit hm they seem to either be almost indestructable with endless energy or complete idiots - mostly the first sadly.
I hate specially woh monks in hm - 1 can be bad enough but get 2 and you may just as well walk away.
Sometimes tho suicidal you can target the monks an force team ( if h/h) to waste that monk but often its not an option.
Interupts , scourge healing on monk , err backfire , ss .
Infact use ebon sniper or ebon assassin and target the monks , im sure the ebon sin will keep monks busy for a bit.

I love dropping [Pain Inverter] on those stupid rangers. 2 arrows into a crowd and they are dead.
The problems are when there are more than 6-7 rangers it gets overwhelming
EDIT: is bb code broken or am i doing it wrong.

Shouldn't this be in EoTN explorer?

If you run monk heroes, take two mesmer interrupts on their skill bars.
TheodenKing
Frozen Soil is a great tool for rangers against those Charr mobs.
Also, I've never found the prophets to be the key to those groups. I've had success by taking out the Dominators first in most situations. This will cause the prophets to expend much of their energy early, then when you switch targets, they have less left to heal themselves, and the dominator is no longer around to rez the prophets when you kill them.

bring gwen. and if your playing an ele, go water magic.
imnotyourmother
Sniper support, Pain Inverter and Ebon Vanguard Assassin should finish it off very very fast.
MithranArkanere
When they cast meteor shower, I move away or interrupt that, then they when my party hits them, you can easily kill them either one by one or in bunches. Almost everything works against them quite fine.
Rebelor
minion bomber+ebon battle standards of courage and honor, and since you are a r/, your fav interrupts and for rest of the grp just standard nukers(i prefer sandstorm) an SS nec and monkage of your choice.
Gigashadow
Shield of Absorption > the archer groups (Charr Seekers). Have a hero pre-cast this on you, run in first and they will blow their load on you and you'll see a whole bunch of 0's fly over your head. You can also precast Aegis right after that so your group is safe for 10 seconds or so.
On my warrior I run in and chain knockdown the Prophet, use finish him!, and splinter weapon on me has probably taken care of most of the rest of the group by then. Then kill the dominators, they have rezzes. I've never needed to use frozen soil for charr groups.
An alternate way is to bring a Rt/Me channeling/interrupter with the 2 AOE interrupts, Tease and Cry of Frustration. Works wonders on that nasty monk boss in Grothmar Wardowns.

Lots of options are available to take them out. The Prophets aren't really the ones to be worried about though. THey heal, but not THAT good. Worst thing they do is through a Power Drain on your casters. Even in HM they drop pretty easy, and are rarely the first target I hit. But if you want another PvE skill to help, since Sin Support and Sniper Support have been suggested, try taking Technobabble. Since the Charr like to clump up, this will also help against the Necro, Mez, and Ele Charr in the groups.
Neo Atomisk
i play dslash godmode and i bring sabway, it rolls charr.
HawkofStorms
I would advise against Cynn as Charr have high armor against fire damage.
Besides BHA/empedimic, also try bringing Technobabble, using volley or barrage for AoE interupt of dazed targets and Pain Inverter (for the eles).

haggus71
Technobabble is a sweet idea. As for Cynn, for bringing a henchie, she offers a nice AoE KD, which is nice, since the Charr like to stay close together. The KD, not the damage, is what I was thinking, and she always lets loose a round whenever I run into a group.
Miss Puddles
I always take out the mes and eles first, they are more of a threat than the prophets. BHA + Rapid Fire can wipe them really quickly anyway.
A11Eur0
Good way to kill any PvE monk-heavy group is to spread damage pressure out. Lingering Curse and scourge healing are good ways to mitigate their healing as well. Spreading the damage out causes them to spread their heals out so it's harder for them to keep any one member of their team alive, including themselves.

VoR is epicsauce...you heal for 100 points? I hurt you for 100 points! =D
Zebideedee
Assassin support is good for the Moggies, also maybe 'You Move Like A Dwarf' to buttknockstop annoying skills, when you use Assassin support they have a knockdown skill (never been a Sin so not sure what skill it is, they usually do it in the 1st 2-3 seconds) if you time it right with 'You Move' you can keep em floored while you beat them to death.

This is still my fav of all interrupt builds.

Hahaha. Riverside Province. HM. Three white mantle abbots + Corbin the Upright. I could pull, but only in a way that left one abbot behind. And stupid me, I didn't strategize and bring much in the way of enchantment stripping.
Sword Hammer Axe
Just group them together and nuke them or something like fevered dreams, epidemic or that asura skill for spreading daze.
Or a warmongers weapon barrage ranger.ยจ
Generally the most annoying monks I've met are Forgotten Sages and Dolyak Riders on HM. Man those guys can be as annoying as a boil on the ass.

Iron Palm, lead attack that KDs if the target has a hex or condition. When used with YMLAD! start with the shout, wait for one second and then activate sin support so that palm hits just after the target has gotten up, and the cripple from YMLAD! meets the requirement for another KD. If you don't wait out with sin support Iron Palm will most likely hit while the target is still KD'd from YMLAD! and the second KD will be wasted.
