looking for advice on a duo combination

Hey everyone, I'm not sure if this would be the proper place to put this but I am looking for advice on a character that will be played exclusively with my friend.

He is a necromancer and enjoys having an army of summons, so I was wondering what would be the best synergy with that. I should mention that we are going to play through the Nightfall campaign and that I am very new to the game.

I was thinking Paragon maybe because of the ability to boost your allies and providing decent ranged dps, but I'm not sure because I do not know if summons count as allies or if my party buffs will affect them.

I have already tried a dervish with his necro but I feel a little useless because it gets crowded and it is hard to put out aoe when all the mobs become split up by the summons.

Thanks for any advice.

What about another necro? SS with Barbs and Mark of Pain.

Play whatever you want to play. Synergy doesn't really matter if you're not having fun playing.

if you want to steadfastly stick to one combination, you will find some areas and missions much harder than they would be than if you played the game the way it was meant to be played: switching seconardy professions, builds, and tactics

Healing ritualist or Curses necromancer.

When I bring Livia as MM and Xandra as "ally healer", minions never die. Only Ferothrax seem to be able to wipe them out quickly enough.

They count as allies, but not as party members. So spells that affect allies will work, such as Dwayna's Sorrow - but not spells that affect party members exclusively, such as Protective Was Kaolai.

Play whatever you want to play, really. Heroes can help fill in the gaps if you need them to. People have already suggested Curses necro, which is a viable choice; any healer class should work, if you like being the backline... etc. It's a matter of working with what you want to play.
