hi,
im a lvl 6 ranger and im still doing many quests in the "living ascalon".
i understand that afther you complete some mission given by sir tydus you advance to another world (to fight the charr) in which the real game starts...

i have two questions:
1) on what lvl do you recommend me to go there?
2) the game now is really easy + i really dont need party members for any of the quests. does this change after you go to the real world and start doing Missions (which i understand are differend from quests? if yes, how? yes thats a question in a question=])?

ps
plz no spoilers.

Any time between, oh, 5 and 10 is fine. You can do it at 3, but the post-sear creatures will do mean things to you.

Important thing is that you get the skills from pre- before moving on. And all that free easy mission xp is good too, things get a little harder post-, so I did every available quest before moving on (at L7-8ish).

Answer to 2 varies with poster, but I started grouping in post-, because the mob spawns got bigger. A few L4's can take down a solo L8, just by zerging him. And in some parts of the wilds, the mobs get much bigger--even something as simple as having a couple of henchies doing nothing but 'cannon fodder'/meatshield duty makes things a lot easier.

I left at level 8 or 9 I think. But only because I did every single quest there was to do. And explored the northlands a bit with my friend. Its really up to you though.

My first time through pre-sear I waited until level 7. I wanted to try north of the wall before heading out. The next time I went as a level 5 (barely). For me, I think the best idea is to get all of the skills available to me in pre-searing, a belt pouch, and maybe a few vials of dye.

I'm not sure there is an optimum level I can recommend for you. It really depends on what you are in this game for? It's difficult to answer your questions without any spoilers.

However, suffice it to say that as you move on in the game there are more difficult enemies. People have played quite a way into the game solo-ing. But for the most part it requires being a higher level than the group of enemies you go against, and at some point the enemies will catch up.

Have fun

I did the pre-searing twice, the first time i rush things and I changed at lvl 5. I was a Elem/Mesmer, the following hours were pretty hard. This time I waited until lvl 7 with a ranger/monk, the following hours were acceptable

It's up to you, and I guess the kind of character you are playing, some maybe harder than other at low level.

thx for your answers guys.
how can one know that there are no more quests to be done?
and if on lvl 6 it means iv pretty do most of the quests (i barely got xp from other things)?

and a new question - are there dungeons in the game like in other mmos?
you know, a big underground place in which there are stronger-then-usually monsters and you get good items?

I personally haven't gotten into more than the underground stuff in pre-searing. There are plenty big nasties above ground. Knocked heads with a lvl 30 dragon and like 4 lvl 18+ dragons in the same area the other day.

As for good stuff .. you can come up with it in the last 1/2 of the game easily enugh, but I think the devs are working to balance that so that there are minimal farming areas. Just play and kill and see what ya get. Maybe you'll find somethin really cool you can't use but can trade away to someone that has something you want too..

Happy Hunting!!

i did every single quest with my first toon, and got out at about lvl 8.5 i think

you know you did every (or almost every) quest if you've been to every city/town and talked to every person.

The quests lead you from one town to another so as long as you do everything your given you will find all the towns.

i like to get my alts out my lvl 5ish though since i'm really just racing them to ascension.

Okay, here is my advice. Yes, technically, you can go anytime you want from about level 4 on up. But, I would wait until level 10. Here is the reason why. When you are in the training area, the creatures are easier to take down, they drop loot more frequently, and it seems that you level faster. For example, I made it to level 10 with one of my characters in about six hours. I also had more than 2000 gold from all of the drops I got during quests. Now, with that being said, once I went into the real world, everything changed. As far as the game is concerned, the change was awesome and I love GW very much. But, the creatures are tougher to take down, the loot is somewhat, relatively speaking, harder to get, and leveling seems to have slowed down. In other words, it got harder. Given that there are tons of really cool stuff to get in the real world, including a guild cape that will cost you 2 platinum unless you join a guild that already has one to give you, I wish I had saved up thousands more gold and had leveled higher before going there. Also, given the storyline (which is really brilliantly created), I wish I had become more familiar with the world as it was, with the land, the location, etc. You know, take it all in and everything. Yes, I finished every quest in the training area, but I really wish I had explored more. Does that make sense? Anyway, but that's just my personal opinion.

I've gone at 5+ on 3 occasions. All were acceptable. I tried to complete as many quests as I could before going once and I went at just a little short of level 9. Of course I didn't go farming monsters for farming's sake.

this post created two new questions=]
1) guild cape=?
2) platinum=?

1)guild cape is something your guild leader buys for 2 platinum from the guild emblemer every member of the guild will then wear the cape in town/on the field, its purely decorative

2)1 platinum=1000 gold

Here`s a nice read. What level you go at really makes no difference as long as you do the needed things in the first part of this guide. I used Pre-Sear to stock up on crafting items. Look at what armore you`ll want down the road and start stocking those items.
