Gate of Pain help
Relent Less
Well Im running into ALOT of trouble with this mission. Im not standing any chance dealing with those Dryder things and thought I would turn to you guys for help.
Im a D/Mo going with a AoL build. I think the worst problem is my heroes...which ones should I take and what skills should they have?
If it isnt that, just throw out some pointers. Anything could help at this point lol

First of all being a derv with 1000+ hours on it, I refuse to use any avatar build unless I'm in something condition heavy like SoO, you can put out more damage with other elites and better skill for eternal aura
Run these heroes, even without runes you should be able to do it as long as you pull
OgGikyqMFu9Wyc1cNgZUEDKDCA
You'll be the main damage dealer, Cast PS on yourself before the ele bosses, not sure about Nm but in HM they can one hit
OwYS8YIPMkuIyoecX30XkAC Dunkoro Prot
Good res general protter
OQhjAgDaIP+0eARIDMMveZsLGA Gwen/Norgu
Tease hero, it will provide Melee and caster support against everything, especially terrorwebs which I find most people have trouble with
OANDUshtSmRKgHVUBoBVVTfGNA Necro
A little more defensive than it should be because this is a Hm build, but it should suit you fine
Bring these along with two monk henchies, and the two eles, you should do fine.

Ok well, my suggestion is this...
You need to take Dunkoro, so stick him to 15/16 Smite and 12Divine.
Stick RoJ on him along with SoH along with Smiter's boon, Smite condition and Smite Hex.
Next, take an N/Mo Minion Bomber,
Run Aura of The Lich along with Animate Minions and Death Nova and BoTM.
Stick 9 or so into Prot and Take PS.
Thirdly, id suggest either an SF hero (I take it this is NM)
either this or you could take Mindblast seing as their is only 1 Fire Hero.
If you dont wanna run that, take a paragon with some useful shouts, or an Orders Necromancer.
Along with this take 2 ele hench and 2 Monk hench and with good pulling, you should be fine .

. As already mentioned, 4 monks is to much healing....you also have to have enough offensive power to kill baddies.
When I first took the Gate of Pain mission it was..well...ugly. The Terrorwebs just blew the team apart. To counter this I would flag heros/hench in a squat diamond so that the aoe spells wouldn't pop all of them at once. I would then (even eith an Ele) go ahead to aggro the pairs of TWs and get them to use thier Meteor shower..move immediatly once they cast! The group had little problems killing them after that. For the single boss-like TWs, Force a monk to cast Protective spirit and maybe a healing breeze on a warrior and sent the warior in to absorb the initial attack and they also fall easily.
Always, always! be aware of where patrolling groups are and be very careful and patient in pulling as small a group as possible

Thanks for all the good info guys. Im new to all the lingo/abbreviations/codes and such as I have been out for like two years and just decided to start playing again.
But once I get some research down and figure out exactly what you guys said Ill be trying these things out lol.
IronSheik's stuff sounds pretty solid so Ill try to get that put together.
first off; how do I use those codes he posted to see the builds?

Uh, yes...
Press K which will open your skills & attributes panel (assuming you haven't changed the default mapping). Click on the load/save icon, then the button marked "Template code" Paste the above build codes in there and save them.

As said, Broad Head Arrow will win the mission for you almost single-handedly. So take a ranger hero - Margrid or whoever. If you don't have BHA or if your heroes are not very well equipped or very well-skilled, take Gwen (or Norgu...) as an interrupt mesmer instead (equip lots of quick-recharge interrupts).
Either a mes or a ranger hero will win the mission for you. I have found that a well-skilled interrupt mesmer hero alone (with Dunkoro and, say, Koss or Jora) will win without a BHA ranger hero if your character does not have fully skilled heroes. If you have well-skilled heroes, a BHA hero alone (without an interrupt mesmer hero) will win for you. If you are able to put both a BHA ranger hero and an interrupt mesmer hero into your team, it's hard to fail the mission, including the bonus.
Hope this helps.

Ended up using Maelstrom.
It was a walk in the park once I equipped that skill.

I had Maelstrom on Zed and several interrupts on Margid (as well as the Disrupting Accuracy prep), but they barely used them against the tormentwebs. Is there something I'm missing about how the hero AI chooses which skills to use? I didn't actually have too much trouble with the terrorwebs, it was the tormentwebs that kept getting me. How can they do more damage with Liquid Flame than the skill itself is capable of doing? At max, it should only do 115 or so, but to me it was doing 300+. And they were also shooting off Lightning Bolt twice at the same time. How is that possible? They shouldn't be able to do that.

I tried equipping it on two heroes in one party and they couldnt get it done. But it was a whole lot easier using it myself.
But if thats not an option, assuming your a ranger, you can use Broad Head Arrow like stated above for interrupts.

Got it and the rest of the RoT a while ago now, 2 hero interrupters helped a lot. Thanks anyway.
