Is it possible to run from EotN (the place you start from after boreal station) to the asuran cities without doing any quests? I have a few characters that need some PvE skills, most of which are asuran, and I really don't want to have to drag them all through EotN if I don't have to. Can anyone confirm this?

All you have to do is, once you look into the scrying pool, is head out of the Eye of the North itself and go around to the northwest (fight the Norn at the shrine, of course, to unlock it) and into the Battledepths. Grab the bounty at the Beacon of Droknar (you'll have to do a little fighting in there, so might as well get the points) and go west along the northern wall to the Dwarf area. The exit to Varajar Fells is there. Grab the Norn bounty (might as well - a lot of fighting) and head out to the center-west (just below the river) to Olafstead.

Grab the shrine bounties (seriously. Why pass up points in the other tracks while you're passing through just because you want Asuran stuff first? :P) when you leave, then head southwest into the green area. Poke around for Asterius the Mighty, by the way - his scythe's perfect for Dervishes (and with three of them to outfit, killing that bull is a very good idea every time you pass through the area). Go through the ettin cave in the southwest of the green area to reach Asuran lands.

Grab the bounty and head straight west, stopping at the shrines along the way (especially once you hit multiples of 25 kills) 'til you reach the Umbral Grotto, which is where Asuran quests start.
