Can I farm yet?

Ok, so I made an assassin about a week ago, I went ahed and completed factions on it, and ive done the whole asura quest chain in EOTN only that one and not the other 2 yet. Gotten kinda bored of questing and wanted to try farming as a permasin to make a bit of money and get rid of my awful looking exotic armour.

What I would like to know is where the best place for me to farm considering the small amount of the game that i've completed, I have all the skills I need except the Non profession EOTN ones ("By Urals hammer" and Ebon battle standard) which I have no clue how to get even after reading about them on the wiki.

Can I farm ecto's and shards having only completed factions with this character? I would like to start collecting mats for some obsidian armour.

Yes, you can start farming now. However, I recommend learning about the quests/monsters involved with whatever you want to farm before yuo actually start farming them. For example, if you want to farm UW, make sure you know which monsters can kill you even with Shadow Form up, which quests should NOT be activated, etc. or the trip will be a waste. And although not always needed, certain skills will make things faster and/or easier. So find out what you need to do to get any skills that are recommended to make the job easier.... and then get them.

To get Obsidian armor, you can solo farm parts of UW to get ectos, but I'd recommend looking into joining a UWSC team. This means you need to learn how to do a specific area for the team though, which may take some time. Doing UWSCs will not only get you chances for ecto drops, but it will also get you ecto from the chest at the end and other ways of making money during the trip.

Well you can start farming at any time - it just depends on what you intend to farm. I farmed the trail to Saitung harber with my sin when I had barely gotten to KC just because I wanted black dye. Took forever even though chittin fragments were selling high at the time.

But you mention perma sin specifically. For that you will at least have to make a stop in Kamadan of nightfall to get deadly paradox. Plus, certain PvE skills are pretty important for most of the perma builds so you may have to play certain quests to get them. For instance, you can not get Ural's hammer until you have finished the norn story line in EotN.

I don't think I would try farming the UW for ectos until you have gotten battle standard of honor at least.

However, you might be able to farm FoW for obsidian shards using the perma dagger build. The armor from critical agility is not important for a perma and the increased attack speed applies even at low level sunspear so you would just have to pick up the skill in Kamadan.

at this point you could farm if you wanted to as a perma sin BUT i would advise you to get the other pve skills needed such as BuH and ebon battle standard of honor also try to get your pve titles as high as you can for more dmg output if your looking to do UWSC right now (youtube is your friend) just go to youtube and search for the area you want to do i suggest chamber/wastes/plains for starters if your not comfortable to do 4h on your first couple runs tell your team they will find someone else lol all i can say is practice practice and practice GL and HF with all you efforts

The easiest and quickest farm is the keg farm in Jaga Moraine, as you can get a whole storage worth of golds in a relatively short period time. Unids sell for 7 for 4-5k you can make 20 - 30k per hour or so. In a few hours a day you can get enough plats to buy whatever you want. Also the Bogroots run pays 60k to the two runners (usually) and only takes 30 min or so.

to be completely honest, if you have to ask a question like that then u are not rdy....

1. If you play through all of the campaigns you will not only earn a decent amount of cash, but you will also see areas/creatures that you can go back to farm

2. There are so many post here (Guru) that are about farming and they give you specific areas and builds to use... have you looked at those yet?

Wow, seriously? It's THAT attitude that turns off potentially-great community members from wanting to play the game. From what I can tell, the OP did a little homework and seems to understand where he stands on the pecking order well enough to humbly ask for advice.

actually I see nothing wrong with his response. people who are new to the game really ought to stay away from farming for quite a while. it's completely possible to play the game with the weapons and armor you get from just playing through. This isn't WoW where things are very gear dependent, and I think people who want to jump in and get l33t gear or tons of cash without playing the game really don't bring anything useful to the community overall so discouraging that attitude is a great thing.

if you have to ask if you're ready to farm, then you've already answered your question.

so because he's asking more experienced players than him wether we think he has the skills/equipment to do the nessecary farms makes him not ready to farm? sure there are guides out there but whats wrong with double checking and asking for advice from exp players?

I never once said there was something wrong with it. I was just making a point that most people who are ready to farm don't need to ask and typically people who ask aren't ready. it's a simple generalization that doesn't have to be construed as an attack. geez. the only thing I attacked is the mindset that many new players come in with, not the actual new players themselves. just trying to help out.

People like Lord Diviner and careyt really put a damper on the GW community, I bet theyre the ones scream PvX n00b in RA.

To get the various PvE skills that some farming builds require, or gain much optional help from, are quests that come from the matching faction.

IE if you want Ebon battle standard of honor, you need to do the quest that gives it to you from the ebon vanguard. (forgot what it was, but check wiki...i think it was in the eotn though, i dunno its been a while) and check wiki for the quest names of all the quests that give you all the skills you need.

LOL actually no, I mess around alittle with ra/ta but for the most part I am strictly pve.

I enjoy helping people learn farms and running speed clears. I will always help/show someone farms for 55, 105, 600, perma, tanker, oby. That is where I have the most fun.

My comments, while maybe alittle harsh, are meant to have this player experience the game alittle more with this character and reap the rewards of doing so. Instead of playing for a character for a week and wanting to "get rich". There is so much to do with the storylines and truth be told, even after almost 4 years of playing, I still enjoy it.

And directing someone to the wonderful "farming section" listed on Guru is in no means a slight. Who knows what skills he/she has and doesnt? This way instead of spoon feeding builds to a person, you allow them to learn about the forums and what they have to offer.....

actually I use PvXWiki for build research all the time, and I don't think I've logged into RA in at least... 2 years now. I just think that people come at this game in the wrong way. it's not the same sort of game like WoW where having elite gear will actually help you play the game better, thus I see no reason at all the encourage people to start farming before they even have finished any of the games. I was an avid player of guild wars for at least two years before I even felt I had a reason or was ready to start farming, so because of my experiance I can't see how people can jump right into farming when it isn't even part of the game.

Guild Wars has a storyline to follow, a plot, and I just don't see where farming fits in there. I've beaten all of the games on all 12 of my PvE characters and now I do farm quite a bit, but I really had no need for farming till I had more knowledge of the game.

Farming doesn't make the game better in my opinion and I just wish more people agreed with that because the PvE community would benefit from it. I get tired of going into outposts and finding people doing nothing but selling or looking for runs rather than trying to form a party. I know, there are guilds that most people do PvE with, and I'm one of them, but I feel this need for farming is what has killed the PUG worse than it used to be back at the start.

You could also do feathers in Jahai Bluffs...

Yep, on Noob Isand. I have seen average 120 - 150 feathers' worth of scalps there in one clearing
