How much of the game can be played alone?
Pratiba
Hey all,
I'm a new GW player interested in PvE, rather than PvP. Unfortunately, because of work and scheduling I don't forsee myself being able to group often (have to leave with little notice often etc.). I used to play another MMO which required grouping beyond a certain point and, while it was a blast, it just didn't fit time-wise for me. I was wondering how far I would be able to get by in the game with just henchmen/heroes. Would I be able to handle some of the "end game content" in time?
Also-I am seeing many guides for doing things "solo"-does this generally mean with only heroes, or completely alone?
Thanks

Still, I'd recommend finding a nice guild, there are some recruiting on this forum. Most are casuals just like you, who are interested in having fun too. Of course, there are also total asshats, but that's unavoidable.
Oh, and welcome to the game!

UW and FoW cant be done H/H since henchmen cant be brought, but other then that Arduinna is right. Anywhere you can bring henchmen and heros can be done completely on your own, of course there would be some difficultiy in some places

It is absolutely possible with the right setup of heroes to run FoW or UW, though having someone else bring in heroes and leaving makes it easily doable too...

I recommend going alone in a lot of places.
Allows for more flexibility, since you could just bring heroes that are customized for whatever you need.

Please share some builds to solo H/H FoW and UW. I'd really like to know.

This has been asked before around here, I'd say the exception is Eternal Grove, HM at least. I've seen people claim it's doable, but it's definitly NOT for the average or above average player. Unless you run some crazy stuff or are exceptionally good in GW, ask for a guildee to come along. I've manage to do it with a double discordway with an imba paragon. Funny cause I managed to try it with someone from KMD when that was the z-mission, and we failed in the end. :P
Other than that, Slaver's Exile HM will be one hell of a pain, but it's doable as well. So apart from UW/FoW/DoA/Factions Elite missions where you can't actually bring Henchmen, everything else is doable. If you're lucky enough to get acess to a 2nd account with heroes, use GWx2 with 6 heroes.

H/H everywhere you can. It's really the only way if you leave at a moment's notice. I know how you feel. I have to log off at random notices and I feel bad leaving others hanging there.

Im gonna take a real wild guess as ive not seen it ever mentioned - uw/fow with heros id bet on 600/smite ( u 600 ) with the last 2 heros being roj monks , i say that coz its possible with luck to 600/smite whole of uw and 2 more heros wont make any diff cept to microing.

Good team builds and you can do almost anything read up on skills and areas in advance and you will save yourself a headaches
UW/FOW is doable with heros 6 of them (rent someones discord team and add your own group to the mix) and you should be able to do the quests.
good luck to you

Yes, you can play almost all of the three campaigns and EotN expansion in Normal Mode using only heroes and/or henchmen. Once you have completed a campaign in Normal Mode you will have access to Hard Mode for all your characters in that campaign.
But Hard Mode is not as easy to do with heroes and henchmen. The inability of AI to "think" like a person can make them act worse than the most idiotic real player. Warriors and minions will run off and aggro mobs you are trying to bypass; casters will target the wrong foe; and healers will waste energy and then not be able to heal at critical points.
So enjoy the game (many of us have taken characters through using H/H), but for HM, get a guild.
By the way, this is the best online game in existence for a casual player.

Imho, 99.5% of the game can be played alone, or alone with heroes and henchmen. The last .5% would be finishing elite areas (notice I said finishing, because you can actually go farm some elite areas alone or with heroes) You can finish all campaigns and do all quests without other real people. Real people may or may not make it easier, but they're not necessary.

I'd say from experience that most of the game is do-able with heroes and henchmen. Of course you'll have to adjust for certain areas. The official wiki
for guild wars can be an invaluable tool for new players. Your personal hero builds will determine how well you do in the game, so you must constantly change them to fit what you need. In most cases, i'd take henchman over most players, seeing as you can't really determine how good a player is by looking at them. Definitely check out the wiki if you need quick help.
Pm me in game if you need any more help.
also, a good guild is vital to your guild wars experience.
And i hope you have time to at least group with some people..i mean that is what makes this game fun in my opinion
Hope this helps.

You can do most of the game alone but I don't really see what the point would be. Then it's like a plain RPG, with not that much role playing. Even if humans are inferior for certain things, I like real people instead of heros.
