Newbie price question and others

Hey folks - just converted to GW from years of WoW so I'm sure I'll be in these forums a lot.

Quick few questions though - I see a lot of people in Kamadan city chat selling items for so and so K like "15k," now is that K 1000 Platinum? or is it 1000 gold, making each K 1 plat?

Second - how do I move between campaigns with my Nightfall character? Like if I want to go to Ascalon how do I do that?

Also I see people advertising "ferries" in Kamadan city chat, what is a ferry and when would I want one?

Thanks for the help folks, don't be too hard on me

1k = 1platinum = 1000gold

so 15k would be 15 platinum.

You can only trade up to 100k at a time, which is also all you can hold on your character at any given time. Your bank can only hold 1000k, after that you have to invest in other things to use as currency, which are ecto (worth around 4.5k each) or armbraces (worth around 42-45 ecto each) since such things can stack up to 250 per stack. So expensive trades are often conducted in # of ecto or braces, or 100k+ some number of ecto or braces.

To move from kamadan to ascalon or kaining or anywhere, first you have to have prophecies or factions linked to your account. Then there's a simple quest that will lead you there. Ferries are when people have that quest active and will take you there long before you could get there yourself just following the quest line, for example to get better armor than you'd normally be able to get or something. I'd recommend not doing that your first time through. Play the game, do the quests, enjoy. You can cut corners on later characters but I feel the game loses a lot if you skip chunks of it like that.

Ah awesome, thanks. Where can I find these quests to move between the campaigns when i reach 20?]

Oh also, how exactly does observer mode work for watching GvG? Like are the matches on the list prerecorded from earlier or are they live?

I've also seem to run out of skills to purchase at skill trainers? Is there somewhere else I need to go to get more skills for my monk? Or do I simply need to wait to get to a higher level town?

Here they are in "Interconnecting Quests":

The former, simply type "b" when in guild wars an browse the list, you'll see the indication of how long ago the game was recorded.

Either check the list of monk skills, or talk to a Priests of Balthazar in Great Temple of Balthazar to check if there are skills you haven't unlocked yet.

Ferry is a transfer or "cheating taxi cab" to the docks, wich you can use to get max armor and/or a connecting flight to LA or KC

The game are not live, as people could then go into observer, and tell their friends team what the enemy is doing over a voice chat such as ventrillo. As Fril said, there is a little time marker, letting you know how long ago the match took place.

More skills become available as you progress further through each game, also each campaign has skills that are only available there. If you have unlocked the skill already either via another character, or the priest of balthazar, you can purchase them at any skill trainer (still continent specific though, so watch out for what campaign it is from.)

Note that the Priest of Balthazar only unlocks skills (Mainly for use on PvP characters and Heroes.), it does not actualy buy them, you must see a skill trader to purchase the skill.

People either say 1k or 1p for trading.

The ferry to "docks" in Kamadan is to obtain max armor early. But you will still require the materials and gold to craft the armor. You can find out what is required on the wiki under Armor. The style choices are Istani or Sunspear.
