Bit shy to ask
Father Confessor
So I just got the game the other day. I'm currently lvl 7 and I still have no clue what I'm doing, I come from the land of Azeroth, so I've been doing quests mostly. I'm in this pre-searing area or tutorial area so I've read. Before I take the quest that makes me go to post section, I want to finish all the quests here first. I think I have most of them done except 2, there group quests. I feel odd asking someone to help me, I mean I grouped plenty of times in wow but usually I was the one invited. I have Prophecies, none of the others. So whats the best way to ask someone to group with me?

Just ask in local chat for someone to party along with you, and i'm sure you'll find a kind soul whos willing to help you.
Also; welcome to the game!

You don't, simply invite everyone to your party, as soon as someone accepts, run through the gate...
People have gotten used to that, don't worry...
Also,
1) It's a game, don't be shy. The intire point of MMORPG's is to create an alter ego with other/better capacities than you in real life. (In a fantasy world)
If you don't want your character t obe shy, which I don't see why it should be, then it isn't...
2) You can also simply type in all chat: LFG Adventure With An Ally (Quest)
Last but not least, you can also simply type in All-Chat:
Need help with quest.
Someone is bound to PM you saying what you need help with exactly...
But I would just go with the random invite thingy. I've made some good "friends" by randomly inviting myself into parties... (They help me, I help them, we get to talk, etc...)

Ok, so the "grouping quest" I am going to assume you mean the quest that gets you Ressurection Signet. That is always a nice quest to do so you don't have to buy it later since you will have it on your bar alot in groups. Just say in local chat something like: LF person to do res sig quest ~OR~ LF Person to get res sig. Both similiar one just a little more explainatory.
Don't be shy about grouping because pre is one of a handful of areas people actually group up still. I wanted to say have to group up...but you don't it just helpful for that quest and going across the wall to fight charr. Which depending on your class you could do once you reach like lvl 12. Not really sure never done it myself. While you may find a group for every mission you do most people h/h the games at this point. (hero/hench).
Once you get out of pre I will be able to help you if you want. Just pm me at Melony Songbringer. Just remember though, don't take runs through the game because it is your first time playing it. Do the missions/quests and learn the storyline and get the experience you need. No need to rush in a game that has no monthly fee. By runs I mean having someone run you to an area unaccessible to you at such a low level thus allowing you to skip a portion of the game.
AND on a final note enjoy the game glad to see new faces coming in and buy the rest of the campaigns.
The universal looking for group for anything saying is LFG xx(example LFG for Great Northern Wall(this is the name of first mission in post))
The exact opposite if you are forming a group. GLF(group looking for) xx(example GLF Healing Monk)
You probably already know that from the land of Azeroth but meh. Again enjoy the game and if you need help pm me on the forums or in game at Melony Songbringer

Ok. I will, anyway hiring a gate monkey? Yes, no, if yes should I pay them until after they've opened the gate or not?

A gate monkey is a second person that helps you get access to an area that's normally for two players only. After he opens the gate - he'll probably stand right above you and you pay him ~50 gold, then enter the area. He'll leave the party afterwards.
I would suggest finding someone to come with though. That way you can together explore the area and finish your quests there. It makes it much easier. It's not for nothing they made sure the gate only opens with two people.

Hi and Welcome to Guild Wars,
Nice to see someone playing through the storyline and as you progress into post
there will be plenty of you to explore and most of all learn the game...
The Proficies storyline has a longer curve than the other 2 campaigns
But as you progress you will be obtaining new skills ..free i may add and that any skill you obtain is unlocked so any of your other chars can obtain it also
There is no need to rush ..what u may see is others who rush to get to another place because they already have played the curve and want to bypass some areas
Good Luck in your progress and enjoy Guild Wars....

Another trick you might try is letting people know you will open the gate for them if they will partner with you for adventure with an ally.
You can do the same with the quest into the northlands, offer to open the gate for someone if they will let you stay long enough to lead what's-his-name back to the entry. (just be sure you map out and not leave by the gate or you will drag your partner with you)
If you are lucky the person will be bored and invite you to stay with them for some char hunting.

Welcome! Imo (in my opinion) you shouldn't need to take any more quests until you're lvl7-10. If you are that high, or higher, you should be fine. Bigger is better, but it's your choice.

Welcome to the game, i would only do the Adventure with an ally quest. The res sig is one of the most commonly used skills and it helps alot to have it, And if you've done all the other quests im guessing your ~lvl6 which is a decent level to leave pre at
Wyndy
remember that everyone in pre-searing that wants to advance will need to do that quest. It is a little nerve-wracking at first to use your voice in an online situation, but it gets easier and you will soon be as annoying as the rest of us in chat.

There is also a Pre-Searing Checklist to go through if you're not sure.

Try to find a guild to join, don't jump on the first you'll find simply because they were the first. You can for example check this subforum of Guru:

Don't be afraid to ask questions, there are plenty of nice and helpful people on this forum.

Count me among the new too LOL! I have almost used up my trial and now I am thinking I should buy the trilogy......great game, still getting used to the basics but having a fun time being dazed and confused....happy to find this forum!

And welcome to the OP and BeauxStar. The game is great and lots of fun. Don't be afraid to ask for help. There are always trolls around, but also many helpful people. Feel sorry for the first group and enjoy the help from the second.
