Hi -- Not sure if this post should be here or in "The Campfire". I tried the Hells Precipice mission for like 2 hours yesterday and my team kept getting smoked. I'm a fire elementist and didn't do my team justice any suggestions for good E/MO build for Hells Precipice mission? I'm also limited with skills only have access to regular skills. No elites yet. I checked PvXWiki and they mostly have fire nuker builds. Maybe it's not worth changing build, but having a ranger bring "Winter". Advice?
Thx.
Suggestions E/Mo build for Hells Precipice.

Definately ranger with winter is a major plus. I always ran water with my ele for that mission. water snares hex heavy. works very nicely.

you may want to consider the role of party support - wards are particularly useful in that mission (can't remember which ones you will have access to, but ward against elements and ward against harm[elite] are very nice)
not having an elite will hurt since there are two that would be very useful for you in providing support - get either Ether Renewal or Ward Against Harm.
the first will allow you to run protection for your team without running out of energy
the second will provide loads of extra armor for your team and help to mitigate damage from mobs' powerful fire spells like rodgorts invocation etc.
a lot of other options out there, too, but that should get you started.

Dual Attunements and Maelstrom/Deep Freeze are your friend.

For the Fire Islands, you would have to invest heavily in the water magic attribute.
Maelstrom; Deep Freeze; Glyph of Lesser Energy; Water Attunement
The bold skills words would act like magic (no pun intended) in the Fire Islands. However, as always as an elementalist, watch your energy management, especially for this build as it uses high cost energy which is why I recommend Ether Renewal if you're not a good energy manager. If you are use this; Ward Against Harm.

If you've reached Hell's Precipice there is no reason for you to not have an elite. There's plenty of places earlier in the game where you can use a signet of capture to get one without costing you any more than 1k max for the cost of the cap sig (depending on how many other skills you've already bought - it may be significantly less). Use wiki, search for "elite skill", choose one of the links from the list under "by capture location" on the right. It'll show you what's available and where you can go to get them.
Other than the lack of elite skill, I'm guessing (I may be wrong!) that between you and your fellow party members you've got more than just the builds giving you problems. The following is based on that assumption, so take away what's useful from it and ignore the rest.
If you've got there without an elite, have you also got there without getting infused and/or without doing both of your attribute point quests? I ask because I pugged in the fire islands recently and only one person in the party other than me had even heard of infusion, let alone done it, and I see a fair few people doing HM zquests with missing atts. Also, how many superior runes (other than vigor) are you running? Again, I ask because I see people dying very quickly due to having under 500 health (sometimes even under 400!). If you notice anyone else in your party dying rapidly, or being ineffective, try asking them these questions. They may well be as frustrated as you about repeatedly trying and failing and not know what the problem is.
If you've not gotten infused (or don't know what infusion is) or if you don't have 200 attribute points when you unallocate (is that even a word?) them all, check wiki for "infusion" and/or "attribute points". If you have two or more superior runes, replace all but one of them with minor runes.
Onto builds. Do you have access to other campaigns, or just Prophecies? If you've only got Prophecies (or at least, if you only have Prophecies skills at the moment) then I'd go with the other posters above and advise running something other than fire if you're feeling ineffective. Water is effective for AoE snaring/blinding/interrupting casting; air is effective for single target spiking/blinding/KDing; earth will give you access to wards to protect you and your party from elemental and physical damage. If you've got Nightfall then you can still be effective even with a fire build, as there are some quite powerful fire skills available from that campaign.
Something to bear in mind in this mission is AoE damage. If you stick a firestorm or meteor shower or whatever onto more than one burning titan or risen ashen hulk at a time, you are going to find yourself facing multiple melees in the form of hand and fist of the titans when they die, which can quickly cause your monks to run out of energy healing and protting everyone. Stick to single target damage if you can and take things out in the order spark of the titans --> burning titan -> risen ashen hulk -> hand/fist of the titans --> next burning titan -> etc.
Pull carefully using a longbow, watch the patrols, and take on small groups at a time and you should do fine.
Good luck.

And of course those harmless looking "Spark of the Titans" can wipe your whole party easily. Select them first and call them to your team to attack (shift-space). Also if you manage to close the 3 portals and get to the cut scene, let it play to the end. For some reason it is kind of bugged where if you interrupt it right off the bat, the entire mob of of enemies when come charging right at you and wipe your team.
