so i didnt complete all the quests that give skills in the pre-searing portion of the prophecies campaign. is there any way to get them without having to pay for the skill pack and unlock them? i think i see where there are quests in other campaigns (note i have the prophecies skill pack and i am referring to the core abilities) nut i'd rather not wait till then.

all skills can be obtained through skill trainers whether or not they are obtainable via skill quests or not

ok i see. i was at the skill trainer at grendich courthouse who did not have the mesmer empathy skill in the domination tree, but apparently the skill trainer in ascalon city has it.

Here's a wiki page with tables of skills available from quests by region.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/List_of_skill_quests
For the ones you missed, you can check that skill's wiki article to see if there are other quests that give the skill as a reward. I know at least some of them come as quest rewards later in post-searing. I'm not sure if they all do.
Also, later on in Prophecies, once you can switch your secondary profession, you can then take your character back to the early areas of post and pick up any profession-specific quests you couldn't do at first.
As a Prophecies-born character, you won't get access to the early Factions and NF skill quests (because they're for Factions-born or NF-born characters only.)
Here's a list of skill trainers that will lead you to lists of which skills each one has by default. Once a core or Prophecies skill is unlocked on your account, then all skill trainer NPCs in Prophecies will sell that skill (which can be useful if you're building a second or later PvE character and have already unlocked the skill for your account.)
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Skill_trainer
In NF and EotN, whenever your character goes up a rank in a reputation title, you earn Hero Skill Points. You can use those points at a Hero Skill Trainer NPC to learn skills on that character. Of course, that also unlocks them for your account if they weren't already. Here's a link to hero skill trainer skills, if you're interested.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Hero_skill_trainer
A note about the skill packs - those give you skill unlocks for your account, allowing any of your PvP characters and heroes to use the skill. They don't immediately grant you the skill for your PvE characters to use. For a PvE character to use a skill, that character must get it from:
- a skill quest reward
- buying it from a skill trainer for a skill point and gold
- buying it from a hero skill trainer for a hero skill point
- capping it from a boss
- using a skill tome to learn a skill that's already unlocked on your account
So, if your goal is to get a skill available on a PvE character, the skill unlock packs won't do that automatically. The PvE character will still have to use a tome or pay a skill trainer to learn the skill. (The wording in your post had me worried that you might buy a skill unlock pack thinking it would immediately teach your PvE character all the skills. This is not the case at all.)
Hope it helps. Cheers & GL!

All the skills obtainable in the pre are obtainable via skill quests in the post as well. Just have to find the right NPC.
Stc95
And if you are looking for any Prophecies skills, Ember Light Camp has every one. Whenever I need a skill and it's from Proph, I head over to Ember to buy it. Makes it very easy, unlike Cantha/Elona that do not have such a place as far as I know
elypta
harvest temple has all skills for the faction campaign, gate of torment got all nightfall skills
Yawgmoth
ALL of the skills you get in pre via quests you can also get in the early post-searing Ascalon quests.
There are NO regrets when it come to skills in this game, you can get all of them from skill trainers spread around the world, with some of them even having a complete collection of skills for their campagin (like the Ember Light Camp in Prophecies)
