Too Human AKA Guild Wars?
NoXiFy
So, I recently picked up Too Human for the XBOX360... and immediately saw so many things similar to the Guild Wars series. When you first start you pick from several professions like many RPG's... but what's very interesting is the plot and storyline of Too Human. Maybe I'm just too much of a Guild Wars fanatic to comprehend it, but you start out in the Hall Of Heroes and later learn about the NORN who help you with quests and such. Anyone else notice possible references to Guild Wars in other games? I know I'm somewhat retarded and all because "Hall of heroes" is very loose and can be used for many games, but starting in the hall and learning about how the NORN are going to help you with your quests just seemed like a pretty decent reference. I've only played the game for about 20 minutes so far so I really haven't seen any other references to back this up, just wanted to let everyone know this though as it's somewhat of a fun fact.

Too Human is very heavily based on Norse mythology, which is what the Norns are from originally.

Not much to do with GW, except that it also borrows elements from Norse mythology :P

Too Human is Diablo II which copies WoW's item tiers.

It's very difficult in many aspects to be novel and innovative in game creation recently, what with most themes having been played upon at least a dozen times before you came along.
The Hall of Heroes? May as well look at Fable, the same name is there. If you wanted to get picky you'd say Guild Wars ripped off Diablo2 - Sorceress uses the same elemental tree that Elementalists use.
The similarities are just that - similarities.

GW isn't the best. Atleast, it isn't the best anymore. People are leaving the game due to lack of content while WoW introduces expansion packs every so often and is still going strong. Not saying that I support WoW, just face the facts.

The only reason why WoW is still popular... they charge 15 bucks for a stupid game per month... and they got 50,000+ bad programmers... WoWs graphics are veeerrrry corny and GW is the best... plus ANET has only like 150 employees so I say ANET is doing a great job with 100 people on team

WoW feels more like a job, especially end game when you raid. But so does every mmorpg. GW is a bit different because it doesn't feel like a secondary job. When I login it feels like I'm there to play. Not there to grind or spend hours in a raid instance.
I didn't even know ANET consisted of only 150 people. That's amazing. GW content, skill and bug fix updates are pretty much unrivaled. WoW on the other hand gives a lot of crappy updates that makes you wonder what the devs are smoking.

High school proves that.

In Perfect World one of the quests is to go kill the Charr Boss who looks very similar to charr we know and love.

One problem WoW has is end game content, its absolutely horrible. Sure they release a new raid zone every 6 months or so. But most guilds clear the raid within the first month. So what happens is that for the next 4 months or so you have inactive members who are bored with the game because they have farmed out the new raid.
I think content could stay fresh in WoW if you could play the game from the perspective of a different class. But thats not realistic for most people since it takes time to level up another toon to 80 and gear them out to make them raid suitable. One thing I like about GW is that its so easy to start a different pve character. It makes the game much different and refreshing.

Meh, GW is getting boring for me. Most of it is that I can't find a good, "casual" guild that does dungeons/elite areas w/o me getting kicked for a 3 day inactivity. Despite the large amount of end game content, I think I only did about 10% of it, which is pretty sad. I do believe this applies for many people as well.
On the graphics end, I feel GW has this simple, yet very elegant and eye pleasing feel to it. It's something I hope they keep for GW2.

Anyways, getting back on topic, the Hall of Heroes, is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valhalla .
Norn http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norns .
Nothing is taken from Guild Wars, they're just borrowing from the same source, Norse myth. And Too Human's tie should be obvious, because....well, the whole game is a bastardization of norse mythology.
Get educated, and start reading ancient mythology. You'll find that a ton of games borrow from them.

Too Human...Oh man, what a tragedy...
TH follows very closely to traditional mythology (while butchering it in the process). Guild Wars only does a few tidbits from what I can recall.
Can I sig this?

There are similar aspects because Guild Wars, like many games, are taken from real life stuff. In this case, both games have Norse influences, which is why they seem similar. You can say the same about Guild Wars and many games. They aren't references to Guild Wars, they're references to real life inspirations, just like many things in Guild Wars.

thanks to Lyphen for that link.. I was starting to look into it myself as I had gotten a little tired of Japanese mythology and history of late and that kind of filled in some holes for me
