I came accross what I feel to be an anomoly. It's an axe with the pickaxe skin (which already has an odd damage type for axes [peircing]) but I noticed that it didn't have any damage modifier. According to wiki, this qualifies as "typless" damage and ignores armor.
It's req 9 and gold. I don't know if it ignores armor or what, but I can already tell that it will be useful in pvp because it would ignore slashing/other damage type-protecting shields.
EDIT: Not Peircing, typeless (as I stated before [which already has an odd damage type for axes [peircing]) but I noticed that it didn't have any damage modifier.] I'll post a SS in a few minutes.
EDIT2: So to post the SS, I had to salvage out the fiery haft that came with it...unfortuantley, when I salvaged it out, it became Peircing. Has anyone ever heard of a weapon without a damage modifier before? (I swear it was there)

No need for any screenshot - it's not an anomaly - it's just a Battlepick or Piercing Axe - their base damage type is Piercing, without the need for any modifier. Just like a Jitte is a Blunt damage sword.
It's also not rare, in fact it's pretty common. I can't see a gold max insc. req.9 going for more than 5k, while useful in PvP they are rarely used and most often just get merch'ed.
