I just created my new assassin (I am guessing my 5 million-th) - and I was just thinking if the guy should go /E for Keg or /W for normal play.

Wouldn't it be easy to still do vaettir's? Just bring some aoe damage that won't cause scatter perhaps? Viper's defense/ the radiation field ward to degen them down and use a keg (dunno the exact amount of seconds between each keg) and should still be faster than raptors hm where it takes a minute + to kill the 30+ boss. I guess I am speaking from an assassin point of view since dervish/ war I think can kill them all in one whirlwind.

I am curious, for raptors which is faster and easier to do the dervish or the warrior version?

Hmm, Raptors time!

It's comparable at least to keg farming, so I wonder why they didn't nerf that as well. Giving the Nestlings a weaker Twisting Jaws would probably work!

Budger waits almost the full time it takes a keg to blow up before passing out another one.

Potential variations could be? (have yet to try this but will be soonish)

Flame Djinn's haste
RoJ?
Rad Field?
Good Old Sliver Armor (though the last kills will be slow)

also if you have the mobs left facing a wall you don't get them fleeing iirc.

man this sucks big time. i used to tag on along with my guy to do the ghost birds for event stuff i made like 1-2 stacks every full run. >> i know go do raptors but they're boring and rarely drop a ton of golds/event items like the ghost birds did. really why did they nerf this and not raptors? and no more quick survivor title runs for peeps either. gg anet

Aaahaaaaa lame, I created a sin to do kegging and only kegging, didn't even get the chance to farm an event with it! Guess raptors it is..

They could have just made it a little slower not stupidly slow, gave them more health or something, I'm more comfortable with the keg farm I don't like raptors.

it takes roughly 30 kegs to kill a group of vattir @ 3 seconds a keg or 1 min 90 seconds plus the long ass run out there plus rounding them up

frozen armor+burning speed will kill them in about 4-5 applications or so. They have such stupid high armor that flame djinn's haste at 12 fire goes from 99 damage to about 11...the burning does far more damage. 1 min roundup + 3 min kill, though i played it "safe" with energy.

kegging is faster then the burning it seems but not by much when you count you can run right from sif/longeyes to the spot. Could probably add in rad field for 10 pips of degen but no disease and that will give you energy issues most likely.

the mesmer variation works but the timing is much more tricky on SF. The degen is higher/faster though and you only need channeling for energy management.

someone in a town suggested kegging+elementalist aoe when foes are knocked down. You'd need to position them against a wall to keep from scattering. I've not tried this variation yet.

any other ideas?

Loads of new keg sins are now going to retire i reckon but us die hard sin farmers will find new ways to get our norn rep and glacial stones farmed.

Well, if what you say that it takes alot longer for you to drop a keg, then you must have tried it out today (12-06-2009), since I've keg farmed yesterday and i had virtually no problems with it, I did about 40 rezones and had abosuletly no problem killing them in ~1 minute

pppsssshh, who needs kegs? obsi ele (among many other builds) can still wipe out veattirs quickly, and i prefer it much more than raptors, and you don't have to go threw the annoyance of running there... but i think my favorite place for holiday items, is a LARGELY over-looked quest.... Cap Son... quick run on noob island, with a massive mob that dwarf's the vaettir's, there's probally 3x the amount in a very small area. Pew pew 3-4 times and you have close to, if not, a stack of holiday items.

yes, it's entirely possible and works, although a 600 monk is a bit slower, 4-6 minute runs. with my experience i've found a 600 rit is much better for this thanks to VwK, shortening the runs to about keg speed, 2-3 mins.

Because farming an entire mob in 30 seconds is completely good for event items?

Seriously though about time they did something about this. Just spend another 30 seconds degening them through rad field.
