Menagerie quests

I simply love the menagerie! And I want even more out of it <3

How about adding a non-repeatable, cross campaign quest to each animal? Something like finding food, nutritions, mates or such things. Of course some of the pets quests should be master level (I suggest Black Widow, black Moa, Moss Spider, Phoenix, Rainbow Phoenix and Jingle Bear).

Like the idea or is it too unnecessary?

I like the idea. It will reward PvE players for actually capturing and training the pets, instead of getting new ones with faction for PvP.
But then again, I guess a Faction Junkie would just unlock the pets and use them in PvE.

what would the quest rewards be? unless the rewards are worthwhile i'm not doing a crummy little quest for some virtual animals

Ideally something that would benefit the pet, something like bonus pet experience? I recognize that this is likely difficult to implement, but it makes sense, and would give incentive for both PvE and PvP players.

Tell that to the thousands of Webkinz users

Because when it came out, i was in love with it, within a week and half of collecting nearly every pet, i then stopped using it. I don't play ranger much, and when i do, i don't use pets. Therefore the menagerie quickly became useless for me.

If it's done properly and worth both Anets and our time, then more content is a good thing. If the only reward is some crap item that we'll never use then it's just a major waste of time.

New quests are always great. But the rewards should not be the pets themselves, since many people have filled menageries already.

Hm... some Zaishen coins should be enough. That would help those that want to fill the Menagerie by using coins, and anyone else can use some extra coins.

I've thought the rewards could be:

A) Z-coins.
B) Unlocked Pet Evolutions.
C) Some small things like XP, sweets, Alcohol and maybe lockpicks for the regular pet quests and bigger things like perhaps XP and a a Z-key for the Master's quests.
D) A new weaponskin after all the quests have been beaten like "Beastmaster's Staff" or "Whip Focus" or something like that.

Ooo I like this idea! The game is getting repetitive and the "new content" and "updates" have been majorly lacking. This is something lots of people would enjoy. It would get them more interested in the menagerie and get them some rewards at the same time. I'd love to see this added to the game. Just don't make it like WOW where you have to keep the animal "happy" for it to be useful in battle. Some sort of title would be cool too, like Menagerie Master or something if you have all tiers of all animals in there. Of course, that may not work because people could easily buy the pet unlock pack. Maybe just for exotics.
