champ farming - help!
Jeydra
This weekend is double Champ ...
Near the end of the weekend I was in PvE with some friends. We were stopping by at the Great Temple when someone showed up and said, LF people to champ farm with, you can play whatever you want, message me what you're good at. I have a friend who wants C1 pretty desperately and to be honest I think he deserves it, so I whispered him and told him of the opportunity.
And then it turns out that the entire "opportunity" is a sham. My friend did get invited to a champ range guild and they did play, but it is they who're getting farmed not them farming. You can't (legally anyway) farm champ points with a bunch of PvE players with terrible builds, two heroes and no Ventrillo. You can play but you can't win. Still since you get a guest / invite, it's still only polite to play at least one match. So they went in and ran into a coordinated team including - who else? - the person who was spamming at the Great Temple looking for people to champ farm.
I have no objections to legal champ farming, that's what all sorts of guilds have been doing this weekend. You take some inactive but champ-range guild, get a bunch of guests / members and then play some random, easy-to-play, quick-to-finish build, eg. 5x Fire Elementalists or A/P spike. This however isn't legal champ farming and the original person in the Great Temple was obviously looking for victims to feed him champ points. This is scamming and exploitation, except half the team are clueless PvE people who don't know they're being scammed and are happy to go along.
Regina, is there a way to report the scammer without also getting the scammed people banned? I know when this happened and there're chat logs to back up what I wrote above, it's just that I can't report the scammer without getting other people caught in the crossfire. Is there anything I can do or should I just accept that some people are ruthless and if you're stupid enough to get exploited you deserve to be?

Oh man now my ass is missing and i have to go find it, cause i laughed it straight off.
...anyways... i don't think farming stormseed jacarandoms in great temple for champ points is a bannable offense really. Well no actually it might be, because it just might be considered manipulating the ladder, which we all know who got their asses kicked and de-trimmed in the past for stuff like that.
*achoo*
But then again i seriously doubt a guild full of dishonorable scrubcakes even matter enough for any sort of repercussions to take place, and that's making the bold assumption their plans are successful, unless they're like selling champ points or some piss like that.

Champ farming? Sounds more like chump farming to me.

Anybody who puts champ points and farming in the same sentence does not deserve the title. Actually...anybody who cares about champ points is probably a scrub. What the shit am I am talking about...anybody who cares about titles is probably a scrub.
Still Number One
It isn't anything new. People did that in HB with multiple accounts, and guilds have been doing that in GvG. They play during dead hours, one guy has an account in both guilds, they start up the guild battle, get a free win and free champ points for synching. I guess he was just trying to be sneaky about it and make it look like the other guild was actually legit when, as you pointed out, they obviously weren't.
To my knowledge anet did something about it in HB (I'm probably wrong) and knows about it in GvG but just hasn't done anything about it. I wish you luck in trying to get these guys suspended, but I doubt anything you do will work.
yep. Champ titles haven't meant crap for a very long time. If you are good people know you. Champ title is about as useful as Kurzick/Luxon title. Its luster was lost when they reduced the value needed to be in champ range, and when blood spikers started to get them.

I see what I can see and deduce accordingly. I've guested for champ range guilds, been in champ range guilds myself and this weekend I even guested for vR and gained like 14 champ points, something I did not expect. That's not the point though. I know my friend to be better than me because even though I've played for higher-ranked guilds than him he always seems to know what I'm doing wrong and can appraise a match accurately when I ask him for advice. I trust him more than I do myself and thinks he deserves a Champion title more than me, which is why I messaged him to respond instead of taking up the offer myself in the first place.
Laugh if you want.
Lol tell that to most of my alliance + lots of top guilds, after all almost everyone's been tanking rating to get more matches on the ladder this weekend, not to mention /resign'ing when they get matched against teams outside of champ range. People say they don't care or that it doesn't matter, but evidently there's still something to be said about champ titles, even for people as highly ranked as - wonder if I should name the person? - rank 8.
Laugh if you want.

Well, Jeydra - if your friend is so good, let him get the champrank himself :S
If your friend is sooo good, he shouldnt have any problems getting into a good guild. You cant really seek for a higher rank guild, even if ur c7(Vigor, Vador..) without setting upp former guilds.

He has actually. We both have, although fortunately for me I have a more flexible schedule. He's got a steady job in Australian timezone (+10 GMT). There's only one reasonable Australian GvG guild (ReX) which he's been in and out of for reasons I'm not sure if I should share on a public forum.
In case you don't know for GMT +10 the American / Euro timezone where most GvG's happen starts at about 12am and ends at about 3pm. The times when it's most convenient for Australian players (7pm for example) you can wait 45 minutes with no match.

You only deserve that title if you actually did something for it imho

I really wonder that anyone left in this game that thinks title's actually still mean something. The only good things are the emotes that comes with fame, but even there are so so so so many bad ppl even with r10...
As for champs?...well see the top ppl as in the old times when you had to need 1500 rating to get this title woot....how much guild was that?...15-20 maybe? I can't rememeber but as GW, the titles are sinking too.
