Disappearing posts
UndeadRoadkill
I noticed that sometimes my posts disappear from threads. I'm pretty sure they posted to the thread and everything, but I check back later, and they're just gone. I'm not flaming people or diverting the topic, I don't think I'm breaking any rules. Is this a problem with the board, or is a mod vaporizing my posts? If I'm doing something wrong, I'd like to know so I can avoid it in the future, but I haven't received any warnings.

Undead,
A common reason for posts disappearing is if you have responded to a post that needed to be deleted. In that case, no you haven't done anything wrong but to keep your post would only confuse the conversation since the post you responded to is no longer there.
We are happy to look at any post and communicate with you a reason as to the deletion. Contacting all users personally though is not something that is feasible since we perform hundreds of moderating actions a day. We're always there to answer your questions though.

There is also a gab between valid posts and posts serious enough to warrant an Infraction.
Posts in this category are often simply deleted.
(Not saying your missing posts fall into this category - just a general statement)

Seems every second post I make is getting 'vanished' lately... I'd rather have the infraction...

It is more than that,- writing an Infraction or Infraction Warning takes time.
We simply do not have the time to document and explain our every disposition.
Like I said above: only the truly deserving posts receive an Infraction or Warning.
Nerel: posts do not disappear on their own accord. If you saw your post submitted and displayed in the thread and come back later and find it missing,- it is safe to assume we deleted it!

Often multiple post are deleted out of a thread at one time. It's not possible to deleted and send an infraction for each post - we would have to send an infraction for each post, then delete it one by one. I can clean most of the trash from overnight in Sardelac out in about 20 minutes. If I had to send infractions for each post deleted, one thread would take about 20 minutes.
Time wise, it's just not feasible to send an infraction or warning for each deleted post.

Oh, I wouldn't bother PMing a mod to find out why they deleted a post, I figure you guys are busy enough as it is, the only time I even considered PMing a mod was for a temp ban I copped... and that would have been to thank him, the ban was correct, and rather polite too.

Since we are all human and have our failings, there can be instances where a post or thread gets deleted without a valid reason, who oversees this kind of infraction? Mod infraction that is.
