Sega is some kind of inappropriate word in Italian. Filter isn't broken.

"Sega" is the italian word for touching oneself in an impure fashion.

Filter isn't broken, technically. It's just conceptually broken.

Because A-net needs 12 year olds to buy the game to earn any kind of profit. I agree the game would probably be better without both a chat filter and 12 year olds (stereotyping here). If GW had no chat filter, the rating may need have needed to be put up to something higher, therefore not getting younger people that are needed to keep GW alive.

The thing i dont understand, is why do you get banned for offensive language when there is a chat filter, dont want to hear it? Then turn your chat filter on.

Isn't there a way to turn the chat filter off in the game? I mean, for your client.. at least you can see what you write, and others who have it turned off

Game ratings aren't affected by player content. CoD4 is full of shitters, but it's rated 16 because of the violence factor.

I do agree with your second point, it should be bannable, or chat filter.

Because it's already so bad that I have Local chat turned off most of the time. I can just imagine the stream of text from a bunch of 12-yr olds with no filter and no mommy watching over them.

It's not that I'm offended by the language or anything - I just don't want to play on the school yard at recess with the kiddies.

Okay, I don't think this is a thread res since it's been less than a month...

How long has the game been filtering "bite"? I don't remember that, and while I can understand the innuendo factor, it's hilarious given that this is a fantasy game... half the things in the game are trying to bite my head off. Heck, the number of skills with that word in it... my bm would sound like a sailor if she tried to ping what her pet was doing... or certain monster foes for that matter.

You don't, really. You actually get banned for harassing people, which all the "I got banned for saying #%$"#$!" threads turned out to be. When chatting with a friend, you can cuss all you want, provided he's OK with it. If not, then the problem is harassment, not the words themselves.
