GW could do a tribute weekend to Michael Jackson. All /dance would be a full MJ routine. Maybe do one routine for males and a different one for females.

Yeah, I suggested that female necros get together or something in gtob a few hours ago on the thread about him in off-topic, but half-heartedly. It'd be hard to organize the community for something like this.
Most players probably wouldn't come. There's an overload of MJ tributes on the news right now. People are already calling into stations saying they're tired of hearing it.
Besides, there's nothing in it for the players. You'd have better luck announcing it in a random district. People would probably participate for the fun of it then.

Sorry, but what connection did Michael Jackson have to Guild Wars? Other than soem dance animations being used, there is no connection. Maybe GW could do a tribute weekend for Farah Fawcett too? Hell, any celebrity who dies will have at least 1 GW player who would appreciate a tribute..... but that doesn't mean it would make any sense.

Implementing this would only promote tons of controversy, especially considering the pedophilia cases surrounding him.*

An official in game tribute to the King of pop, master of color changing skin, lover of young (and intoxicated) children.... really NOT appropriate.

Oh boy...I can see this thread turning into a "He should have been found guilty!" vs. a "He's totally innocent, those are just rumors!" thread. Regardless, I'll get my point in before it gets closed.
I agree with everyone else pretty much, if you want to have a tribute gather up some buddies and do it. Michael Jackson had nothing to do with Guild Wars. If he did, I'm sure lots of people wouldn't play it. I know some that wouldn't. The only reference to him is two dance emotes, but then there are references to Trogdor, Monty Python, etc. Should we also have tributes to them too just because something in the game is named after them or reference to them? I think not, unless you do it with just your guild or actual friends that want to. /not signed

NTY he was ok and I grew up with his music too but has nothing to do with GW so if you want do something special in your own Guild hall go ahead and remember him that way.

Well, if GW2 is going to have more interactive towns, outposts, explorable area's where ppl meet up, perhaps an area effect emote could become active if more then a number of ppl are having a party in a certain area (ak dance) 
... what about a certain outpost/area for an event, or a weekend bar/dancing (or just anywhere aslong as you can turn out or reduce the effect if you dont like them), ppl try to start random parties IRL why not encourage it in a game, given that floats your boat

People are getting too emotional over this! Indeed, this is all sad news to us. However, I do not agree that Anet should make a tribute weekend to Michael Jackson. Players can make events for this kind of thing. I don't see how this is relevant to Guild Wars?
