Well, as this has been a topic for years and has been put to rest then i have to side with the "No" team on this one..

What difference would that be to the P window? Sorry, I've never used a game with an auction house in it, how does it work, is it like ebay lol?

I love Linsey's FAQ. She's lead of the Live Team, the Dev's still working on GW1. Good read there.

The idea of an Auction House (a la WoW), is you can put your stuff you want to sell in there, tag it with a price and go offline. People can bid on the items or buy them instantly without you having to be online.
It facilatates trading, both for the buyers and sellers. No need to shout out loud what you are selling, just hop into the AH, put your stuff down and continue adventuring. For a buyer, easily sift through weapons -> swords -> Emerald Blade and bid on the cheapest one.

The expertise required to develop that technology is far more than the Live Team can handle. Even if we seriously beefed up the Live Team, we could not handle a project like an Auction House since it would require a huge amount of time from our very TOP programmers to develop and that just isn't something we can afford to do. I'm not sure what constitutes as a "Marketplace" but anything that would involve the automating of trade transactions would require "a huge amount of time from our very TOP programmers" and isn't likely to happen. |

Its so silly that guildwars can't add in vending shops. Personal shops that allow players to place an item in a slot, add in the price required to sell it and press (open shop). You can open a sell shop to sell items you want for the posted price you want, or a Buy shop to buy items you want at the price you want.
Fiesta, a crappy cash shop game, has this feature. You start with a basic personal shop and can buy other shops later in the game.
An auction house would be much harder to include. But a personal shop would be easy.
Add in a new quest (aquire personal shop), then complete the quest to unlock a new feature. Add in a two new /commands. /sell shop and /buy shop. Add in two new poses that function like /sit or /salute or /attention.
When a sell shop is up, a character would look a certain way (example: character holds both arms straight out palms down)
When a buy shop is open, a character would look a certain way (example:
character holds both arms straight out palms up)
Include 7 slots per sell shop, like the trade window. 14 slots for a purchase (buy) shop.
Functionality:
Click the quick key for personal shop
Select between Buy or Sell shop
Place item in trade slot
choose price desired
Click Open Shop option.
Go afk.
For purchase shops (where you buy items from others) you would need a few adjustments.
Place the item you wish to buy in a trade slot (example: Ecto or Destroyer sword)
Select which rarity you want the item to be (uncommon/rare/unique)
Select which version of the weapon you want ( Inscribable/Non Inscribable)
Select which statistics you want on the item (damage/armor/req/energy)
Select which mods you want on the item (Mod#1 &Stats/Mod#2 &Stats/ Inscription & stats) Or select "Clean" meaning no mods and no inscription.
Select desired purchase price.
Click Open Shop.
Go afk.
We would have to have an item example to tell the program what we wanted initially, but with the option choices we could expand on our initial item. So I could place a non max, common dead bow in the purchase slot and using the options, announce that I want a rare dead bow.
We would need 7 additional slots for item placement so we could still buy up to 7 items. Stackable items would stack, we would only need 1 item to start with.
Stackable items would also have the select max quantity feature, so we could set it to 250 or 50 or 1 or 1000. When once stack was full it would transfer over to the next empty slot.
Each shop would have a plat/gold section at the bottom or top or where ever and we could place money in it for purchasing or it could take from our characters personal currency. Not our storage. Whenever we made a sell, it would add the money to our character's currency total.
GW could also do an advanced trade shop where we have 14 trade slots, we place the initial item we want to sell or buy and then place the item we would take in trade. So I want to buy a mini. I place a mini in the (buying) slot and select from a complete list of mini's til I find the one I want (sort of like the hero selection list). Then I place the ecto/zkey/shard/whatever in the offer slot. If someone likes whats offered, they place their mini in the trade window and hit accept. The program identifies the item and presto, done deal.
I'm all for personal shops. Its nothing complex and would be pretty easy to add to the game. Atleast compared to an auction house which is far more complex. But I think players in "vending mode" should not be allowed to move. They pick a spot and open up shop. Then either go afk or sit and spam what they are selling (like they already do). This could also be used in conjunction with search.
Just a rough idea but you should get the general idea. It works in other games perfectly and those games are no where near the quality of guildwars.

Simple Idea: Party Search Filter
Please visit there and have a look. Even if it won't be anywhere near as sophisticated an an Auction House, it's still better than nothing at all

Gosh what a brand new idea, your sir are a source of inspiration for the entire human race.
And for the player hsop suggestion, imagine all the sellers that'd open shop at the same time in la1, the dristrict would be full of hardcore farmers that have an extra account and people wouldnt be able to get into the dist because it'd be full of afk shops.

Player-to-player trade has been tricky since the game started. As I understand it, there weren't NPC dye, rune, and material traders at first. Those NPCs were added in not too long after launch though. While it may seem like adding more trader NPCs for things like weapon mods and tomes should be easy, figure they haven't done it yet, and now there are fewer people working on GW1. When it comes to weapon/offhand trading, you're stuck with watching trade chat in game (making the chat window bigger by hitting F11 and choosing Interface can make it easier to read in districts with a lot of trade chat,) or using fansites' trading forums like the ones here on Guru.
