Clearing All Content on HM

My friend and I recently returned to the game and picked up all the expansions so that we could play through the entire game together on hard mode. I'm trying to get some ideas as to what the optimal combination of classes would be for us to play in order to make our goal easier. I'm sure some classes are better than others at certain areas in the game but in general I'd like an idea of what would work better all around. We would prefer a damage dealing or support role as neither one of us enjoys healing, and I'm the only one who likes to do any tanking. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

It Hurts When I [PvP]

First off, if your both willing to change class, then this shouldn't be in necro forum. However, I will assume that you plan on playing a necro + X friend profession. Most people would first off turn to necro + Assassin or warrior. Generally, Sabway or Discord spam is used.

These are the general builds that include necros and you can fill/augment one of the slots:
(also please change them as needed for areas, but generally that stuff there will work, its not the best but it works)

Quick Breakdown of the classes
Warrior
-High armor for tanking.
-Can do damage and has skill Save yourselves(High increase to party armor)
-Can be flexible and has a variety of decent skillsets to choose from

Paragon:
-Really good party support, reduces damage on party by ALOT.
-Can get boring
-Easy to pick up and play.

Ranger:
-Expertise means you can do alot of weird things if that's what your into
-Nice support damage for teams. Tends to have spare slots for utility

Ritualist:
-Recently buffed so spirit spam is easier/better?
-Can get boring quickly(spirits do all the work so you feel kinda useless sometimes)
-Apart from spirits, has very few options

Another suggestion I'm sure that someone will put out is Assassin.
-Good for farming, used in underworld speed clears etc.
-Has good options for most of general PvE - Critical scythe, Death blossom spam

Necromancer:
-High damage output
-Lots of variety: curses, death magic have some cool combos and use
-Works particularly well with other necromancers and warriors/paragons.

Hope this helps you

Necro AP/MoP nuker + Imbagon (check para sub forums) are easily one of the strongest duos in the game, offering excellent protection and strong damage.

Complementing them with discord necros and support paragons is quite easy.

While unnecessary for a large part of HM PvE, it's often enough a complete necessity to have a tank or at least an imbagon. And heroes tanks simply won't cut it, they move or attack or something and screw over aggro.
So basically I agree with the above...1 necro, 1 warrior or paragon.
Rits might also be a possibility given their recent buff/update, I honestly don't know enough to give an opinion on that though.

I just wanted to say that tanking doesn't matter as much in Hard Mode (or even Normal Mode) as it does in other online RPG's. This is because there's no aggro system in the game and enemies attack whomever the AI picks. If you want to "tank" you don't do it. You instead make an imbagon and use "Saev Ursalvs!" every 4 seconds, which sadly gets boring.

I've cleared a majority of the hard mode content with an Elementalist and I'd like to say that the utility an elementalist provides can be a great asset to Hard Mode clears, too. Wards provide an unstrippable defense buff, there's AoE KD and Blind, and if needed, elementalists can provide some of the heavier cost monk buffs with ease.

But regardless of what all other people say, Hard Mode is only as hard as you are ignorant. Like any other game, if you fail to analyze your mistakes and do not commit to strategy, you will fail in hard mode. Learn to pull mobs properly, learn to abuse AI, learn to play Guild Wars properly and you won't even need "gimmick" builds to get through hard mode. Your skill level only reaches as high as you let it go.
