A code that is generated so that you may get a mini creatadon or code that comes in PC Gamer that lets you get a Mini Destroyer, Mini Asura, and Mini Varesh Ossa, Mini Gray Giant
All those minis that especially assigned to your account. Could it possibly be tracked?
How does a code work in GW?

I'm quite sure they keep track of it. Don't you get an overview of your previously entered codes/unlocks when you add another ? I could be wrong on this last one though, It's been a while since I last use such code.

I recon each additional code modifies your original code with a tag because if you visit the online store it remembers everything you added to your game account.
Some of the items are one off like the destroyer, grey giant etc if I lose them they are gone for good so it doesn't need to remember them.
If its like bonus weapons that you can create destroy and recreate then it does and tags the number.

hrmz, I am thinking if the code is traceable, why can't they ban the culprit who stole the item from your storage. Right?
for instant, the Grey Giant and Varesh Ossa, it comes with your game, and if you have not traded it, its "spawn" from your game, by logic it should be traceable, and why aren't Arena Net using this to ban Hackers?
You know, when you got hacked, Arena Net tells you xxx IP hacked your account, and that's it, theres no, "And we have ban them" kind of thing.
so why are the hackers let loose??

I doubt the minis themselves are linked to any code. It is probably a toggle attached to the code - unactivated and activated. Once you type /bonus to get the item/mini, that flips the switch and you get the item. The item then becomes just like any other item in the game.

Whenyou look into account settings you can see which features have been added to your account. This includes the codes for minipets you've won/gotten.

The code will be tied to an account, the item can move freely between accounts if Anet decides to make the item tradeable. Tracing it beyond that is just unnecessary information.
When there was the duping issue a while back, ArenaNet seemd to be able to track people down to some extend manually. But as far as hacking goes, the policy of dealing with the issue is not victim oriented to say the least. GW was not developed to handle that, to put it simply. Hacker safety is a feature, just as 3D graphics or real time physics are, but that anti hacking feature never made it into the game.
For once, ArenaNet says there are no cheats on the real servers, so spawning items to reimburse players is not an option. There is also no way to protect your character from being deleted. Finally there is no way to shield your account beyond the first login window (no optional character password, no optional storage password), which is a huge liability when it comes to keylogging. It is even more of a liability, if people consider that their same login is now used at the Xunlai Tournament house, a simple HTML site which is just begging to be exploited. So it boils down to ArenaNet manually hunting the hacker and get the items back from him. That of course, opens another can of worms, which is support being able to access items in one way or another. If information got out how to do that, we would have armageddon right there.
So all a person being hacked can do is calm down, kiss those 12.000.000 gold good bye and just stop right there. Happened to a guild mate, what can he do really? Play some Age of Empires again of course.

I guess that it's very unpractical for them for retrace the chain of identifiers from "item" that WAS tied to "your identity" (account or char) to the NEW identity of the thief. It could require doing database searches accross multiple tables and indexes (these things are fairly complex, identities are generally stored as numbers for the sake of efficiency, but a table maintains a link between your account/char names and their number equivalent) and I'm sure these databases are so huge that doing that for each fraudulent activity would bear a great increase of the server load (usually database reside on their own servers tied to the game-interaction ones, but we can't be sure) which is not acceptable for Anet.
IIRC, they did something like that recently didn't they? There were a set of frauds and I seem to remember Regina saying that they brought back stollen items to their owner (she may even have said that it was possible solely on that case and was impractical in other cases).
