I had no idea at all if my account was linked to a plaync account and if it was what the name and pw were.
They still got me all the info I needed to get the free storage.
If you have the code cards that came with the game or just the code written down somewhere, you have proof of ownership and can get the panel.
If you don't then you probably have no chance.
Its a lot easier for those with boxed sets and the plastic code cards that came with them and I think anet should make sure all players either get such cards or they keep a record themselves of player details so they can be more easily checked.

So, I thought to myself, if I'm going to get another GW account, I may as well get it before the deadline for extra storage runs out. Seems like good value getting extra characters compared to the cost of buying storage panes.
So off I went to the shops in town, because I like the boxes. But my town is Hong Kong, and all the shopkeepers told me, "Sorry, cold server" which I worked out is slang chinese for "Sorry, there's no distributor for Guild Wars any more in HK." One or two offered to take my address and ask around to see if they could find an import from someplace, but I said, "Never mind, thanks, I'm trying to get one by a deadline, I'll check online."
Well, I looked in wiki to see what versions there were, and decided the best value is the Guild Wars:Complete Collection, all 3 campaigns plus Eye of the North. But that's only available in Europe I read. Americans can get "GW:Trilogy" not quite such good value I reckoned, which doesn't include EOTN. So next I phoned my mom in England and asked her to see if she could find GW: Complete Collection for me. My mom is pretty computer savvy for a pensioner and off she went for me. But she doesn't live in a huge city, and the local shops didn't have a copy. "Maybe I could buy it online for you," she suggested, but I said, "I can sort out what's available online myself, don't worry about it, thanks mom."
Because I live in Hong Kong, the NCsoft store won't let me buy any GW items at all, and I'd had to get support to help me acquire a storage pane for my first account (which they did without fuss, no complaints there.) So I asked a European friend to see whether Complete Collection was in the NCsoft store. It wasn't. Only Trilogy. That's odd I said, but thanks for your help anyway, I can get Trilogy from the in game store myself. I also knew by then that Steam didn't have Complete Collection either.
Getting Trilogy seemed a little worse value than getting Complete Collection, but never mind, it was the best I could get. So I went online, and tried to buy GW:Trilogy from the online shop. But then I got the message "Code 1751188. The order did not pass risk management assessment." My credit card had worked well enough when I'd bought extra character slots before, but the same card was now being rejected for purchasing GW:Trilogy.
A friend in game said he didn't think anyone could make new accounts using the in game store, but I said that can't be right, because Trilogy includes all three campaigns, so it can only be for new accounts.
So next I checked the NCsoft support site to see what I was doing wrong, and there it said, 'if you get this error code you need to contact support to research your account'. Well, by now, I realised, I wasn't going to get an answer from support by email fast enough to get any free storage with it. So I looked to see what the support phone number was instead. The only number I could find was in the USA, which isn't so bad, but lines are only open from 1am to 6am HK time, which is too bad for me.
So for now I've given up on the idea of buying another account. I just hope ArenaNet and NCsoft can improve their distribution of games (especially to Asia) before GW2 is released.

They asked for my game details (including the serial numbers for all of the expansions etc) and the details of the new email address I wanted to bind my GW account to and they just did it. So yeah, give it a go.

i had over 15 emails to support trying to sort out why i couldnt get my free storage pane. they have stopped repsonding, their last email instructed me to provide my key code(s) from any of the gamesi purchased. unfortunetly i am unabelt o gt that information [moved twice since purchases, and most likely discarded]. i am tho able to provide them with ALL other information. heh, to no avail. i will have to either be careful what i store or buy the pane. i was hoping that this would be gotten ingame at my storage agent in GH. sadly disappointed

I am real disappointed in NCSoft and A-Nets actions concerning the free storage pane. So many out there (including me) were never able to get it. Why offer something to the loyal players then turn around and deny them said item? Not good business practice if you ask me...which no one did, not that i was expecting anyone to ask me. lol
But anyway...Nothing gained nothing lost, except faith in the company.

Faith in the company lost... hmm they didnt call back their products back for defectivness yet.. faith is still here.. and they didnt mess it up like SWG did so.. ANET faithfull in you as always.

They gave you an extra month to get your free pane so why all the grief.
The post somewhere above tells you what to do I even posted similar a month ago if you had problems obtaining your free pane.
If you are not willing to spend 5 mins to obtain it then why complain on this ??
Or take advice given by others .........Geeze if you forget things like login/master account they will retrive it for you
Remember the procedure is not lenthy but relavant questions asked ,this is to ensure you did not obtain an account from someone else
So Guys, read posts everything is not handed to you on a plate.
The post above me if you have problems still ..go to your email and withiin that you can update your ticket,this will ensure that the pane will get to you after expiry as an existing support question

Highlander Of Alba, I did all that was posted and asked for from the support people themselves and they still have yet to help me. Started on day 1 that the storage was offered. As I stated above, I sent all the requested info. even gave them the requested info over the telephone...still nothing.
Im not upset i didn't get the storage, Ive just lost a bit of faith in the company as a whole. And I never asked anything to be handed to me on a plate, I was just hoping to receive what they said we ALL could have. Is that so wrong?

For those of you who can't activate the CD serial (or whatever they call it) once you create a new account, here's what I did (had to do it on the three other accounts because it kept saying invalid code:
-Log into the account
-Go to in-game store
-Find some random thing, add it to cart and checkout (you won't be buying it so it doesn't matter)
-When it asks you to sign-in or sign-up, sign-in with the NCsoft/PlayNC (whichever one it is now) account you've created
-The game code will now be linked to the email address through the in-game store
-Exit the in-game store, log out
-Sort out your Xunlai thing on the web store, and then log back in and you;ve got 20 more slots!
-Log into the account
-Go to in-game store
-Find some random thing, add it to cart and checkout (you won't be buying it so it doesn't matter)
-When it asks you to sign-in or sign-up, sign-in with the NCsoft/PlayNC (whichever one it is now) account you've created
-The game code will now be linked to the email address through the in-game store
-Exit the in-game store, log out
-Sort out your Xunlai thing on the web store, and then log back in and you;ve got 20 more slots!

If anyone submits a support ticket before end of day today, June 30, regarding obtaining the free storage pane, Support will help those people get the free storage pane, even if they are not able to fulfill the request today.

awesome, thanks for the news! i submitted a ticket, i didn't specifically say that it was for the storage pane, but it was regarding not knowing my ncsoft info, so hopefully that's sufficient.
also, I'm not sure if you get around to reading PMs, I'm sure you must get 100s, but do you know at this point if linking GW to GW2 will require that NCSoft account?

You should have received an email with your ticket number -- you can use the links in that email to update the ticket with additional information if you think it might be a problem.

IMO I don't see any reason to make this a temporary offer. Ok.. you want people to get interested in the game again (and buy more copies) - tough luck: Most shops in europe don't sell anything but the Eye of the north Expansion anymore. (And a few copies of prophecies or factions or nightfall if you're lucky)
So now what - do new people just have to grmbl at the previous players because they have an "advantage" they will never be able to get? I'm not seeing any positive effects, rather the opposite.
