Just to note, Elona is not a different continent. Just like the Shiverpeaks, it is part of the Tyrian mainland. And like the Shiverpeaks are divided into Far, Northern and Southern, Elona is divided into the Crystal Desert, the Desolation, Vabbi and Kourna. Istan is added to the pack of Elona for proximity and political designations, even not being part of the mainland.
So nothing stops them from adding parts of Elona in the first campaign. For example, the crystal desert and the Desolation.
It would be a shame not able to say hello to Joko in GW2 before further expansions.

Cantha and Elona won't be available in Guild Wars 2 unless they release expansions, which I'm sure they will. Although I think that sucks, as Tyria is my least favorite continent. Why does it have to be the main story in GW2? I never did comprehend that. Sure the first campaign was in Tyria and then so was GWEN, but...yeah. Why keep going back there? Let's see more of Cantha and Elona!

And Tender Wolf, Tyria is the main location in the game. It only makes sense that it continues back there. Just like Diablo games go back to Tristram - where the first game was - despite having an entire continent to go through, it continuously returns to that town, and the dungeons/catacombs underneath at times (though D2 skipped the catacombs).

Ah, okay. Well what I should have said was I don't mind Tyria the continent, it just happened to have my least fave campaigns in it.
Perhaps GW2 will have more than two expansions unlike GW1. Like one could be Cantha, one Elona, one Utopia, etc. And each one could introduce a new playable race instead of new professions - Tengu for Cantha, Centaur for Elona, and...not sure for Utopia but something.
I think that would be cool!
And OMG at this flame fest...Surprised this hasn't been closed for good.

Also, Cantha is used for the name of the empire, and the continent - just as Tyria is the name of the continent and world. So there may still be some non-human sentient races on the continent, just not in the empire. Also includes Naga, Yeti, and Dredge. Being territorial, they wouldn't be happy about that. However, creating a war from the south, you're just making things up. Highly unlikely for Cantha. It would be a very very big game if so. Say, combine all four games we currently have. You are basically wanting that as the initial game. Sure, I'd like that too (especially if it was minimal maps), however it would not be beneficial for business and would possibly mean adding on 3 more years for the development of GW2 from the estimated date of end of 11 beginning of 12 - which would mean 2015 if all three continents are added. More or less. And all that "lot" has been discussed almost to the point where people decide what each and every word means. Just wait for the three books to come out before posting more on GW2. Please. Save yourself from a possible ban and from being flamed and called a troll. (and take some writing lessens, walls of text is annoying, especially with bad grammar) |
