Bulk sales of 25 copies of Factions
esthetic
I noticed on EBay they are selling lots of 25 copies of Factions... I guess they are for wholesale to retailors, but who is selling them? Is ANet through a dealer selling copies of Factions now on EBay? or was there like a truck load of new Factions copies get "lifted" from the wharehouse a while back and now being sold on EBay. Black Market style?
The Scorpion Knight
Probably going to be bought by a bot farmer or something lol. How much was it anyway?
Funk ee Monk ee
like $319.00. Still cheaper at newegg for $9.99 per copy.

*goes to eBay* Oh my...lol
Well I see lots of Guild Wars stuff on eBay, but I'm hesitant to buy any of it because there's always that small risk the key has been used, in which case money would be wasted. 25 copies from the same seller? That sounds slightly suspicious ot me.
I don't think ANet has their own eBay account; they shouldn't need it with their NCSoft store. So it's probably a scam or someone had a lot of money laying around when Factions came out.

there not used bought a *few* sets like that myself easy cash for only 1-2hours collection keys a month >.>... since farming got old to fast.

I would never buy an online game from ebay (since all you are buying is really the key) and that key could be gone or already used and sealed up.. then that person makes money on a key they already used and then say the person who bought it now has to deal with anet to try and figure out why the key dosent work and you know you ain't gonna be able to return it..
LOL @ some of the stuff on half.com for Factions, look around the "Like New" category

it looks like some small-time-personal-business-no-big-deal video game retailer looking to get rid of a bunch of stuff they either won't sell or have from going out of business or something. something along the lines of that.
i mean just look at all the other listings the seller has.
majikmajikmajik
WOW that half.com stuff looks very scandlious
Arduin
Well, as long as Anet hasn't fixed XTH you won't see mee buying any additional accounts
flipfly2004
maybe those r belong to chinese gold farming industry. after the law change they want to get rid of the acc's to meke money ^^
Sjeng
lol, imagine having 25 additional accounts...
1 month XTH at an average of 80 points = 16 Zkeys = 64k (4k each).
That's a whopping 1.6 million gold each month! xD
Two obby armours each month FTW!
That much money would be so useless. You could outfit all your characters with obby armor, tormented weapons or other nice skins, and whatever else you wanted. Then you'd be stuck with perhaps 10 different professions, fully pimped, and have no goals to play for in the game anymore. Pretty boring imo.
I also benefit from 4 XTh accounts each month, but at least I've bought my first obby armor myself. My alcohol/sweet/party titles were mostly self-gathered, but the rest will be bought (although Nicholas is a good support for those nowadays).
At some point, too much gold just isn't fun anymore.

I mean if your a store and you dont sell them don't send them back to the manufacturer or just put them in the clearance bin? Why keep so many copies in inventory for that long.

It appears I'm not the only one who thinks so either, so I guess that makes everyone in this thread paranoid.

Yeah stick to NewEgg for Prophesies or factions for $10 zkeys. I think they still have proph+EotN for $13, which seems quite nice too (make a lvl 20 who can do ~50% of the weekly Nick quests)...
I had the trilogy on my second account, so needed EotN. I got it off eBay almost a year ago, from a 99%+ megaseller (10,000+ sales or some such) who deals mostly in software liquidation, for $13 shipped. Add claimed still factory shrink-wrapped, and it was - key worked fine.

a while back i bought a stack of them like that in creased the amount and resold them singly made about 100 dollars overall depends on the price and if it is worth it which i doubt anymore with how cheap retail places are going for

That's different, as stores can't sell used account key required games. And I don't know of any store that has their own eBay account (unless it's a personal store and not a chain like Best Buy). eBay is questionable because it would be too easy to claim a key not used, sell it, and then BOOM! The buyer gets screwed over because the key was indeed used. Now granted that's not always the case, but I'd personally not chance it.
Yawgmoth
He has 5 lots of 25 factory sealed Factions boxes available at the moment, and also doing a wholesale of many many other different games. It's just a store doing a massive sale, nothing unusual here. Price is also very unimpressive, look around and find many cheaper.
Raccoon
Just imagine if they were collectors editions. I could do with 25 Kuunavangs hanging around in storage :P

As with everything, there's risk. Can you get burned? Yeah. If you're not smart enough to weigh the risks with the benefits then you're right, you shouldn't be buying anything online period. If you're always afraid of getting burned on stuff like that then I imagine it's not just software and you've got bigger issues than getting burned on buying software from EBAY.
Lots of people got burned buying magazines that had in-game item keys in them because people would go into a book store and copy the keys from the pages without buying the magazine. Those were chain stores - namely Barnes and Noble and Borders.
UBid is popular for manufacturers and stores to auction of surplus. Many, many legitimate businesses sell on ebay as well as other venues, many even via their own brick and mortar. I realize you probably shy away from anything that's not Walmart or Gamestop, but take it from people that know, there are other legitimate stores that have less than 1000 locations.
just trying to help.. you sound really sheltered.. don't take anything the wrong way from what I've said.
btw, stores usually sell whatever they want. Walking into a Gamestop, half price books, (circuit city in the past), even Best Buy and seeing some defunct MMO still being sold (Fury was a good one, Tabula Rasa was another one) makes you think sometimes.. Circuit City had copies of Fury and Tabula Rasa up until they closed down. I still see both games in stores every now and then. That's not even considering some of the other MMOs that have gone free-to-play and no longer sell boxes, yet you find those boxes in the stores. Some of them you get extra benefits from the box, others you don't.
Even though I can't stand scalpers, Collector's Editions of just about any game (see WoW) are a huge market on EBAY. If even a majority of the people were getting scammed by those sells, causing too much headache for EBAY, then I bet they wouldn't be allowed anymore. EBAY has a habit of blocking anything that causes it too much grief.
Really though, if you're really that afraid of getting screwed on EBAY, imagine buying a new chrysler, finding out it's a lemon and then not even being able to get your money back (even with your state's lemon laws) because the company filed bankruptcy after you filed for a refund/replacement. out 10 dollars? try being out 20-30k. and btw, Chrysler isn't a personal store :-) That wasn't made up btw. Quite a few people are in limbo since Chrysler can't pay them without permission from the bankruptcy court, which they recently said they don't plan on asking for in the near future.
risk is part of life, paranoia doesn't have to be. btw, don't confuse this with people buying accounts/gold/etc from anyone, regardless of whether its ebay - that is against the EULA and by its very nature shady since they seller probably already knows that. also, with any company/service/seller anywhere there will always be those turds that screw it up for everyone. for every scammer you can find 1000 that aren't.

Lastly, eBay has a very strong policy on charging people selling things they shouldn't sell. If (and it's a big "if" in the case of MMOs) you can prove the shipped good was already opened and the key used, you're entitled to a refund (and the seller will be banned).
Over the thousands of transactions going on on eBay every day, this happens quite rarely.
Tender Wolf
Sorry that I sound "sheltered" but I'm calling it like I see it. I wouldn't take the risk myself even if eBay does offer refunds, but I'm not saying someone else can't. It's your money, do what you want. That's all I'm trying to say. So please stop quoting me and taking what I say out of context, twisting it around to make it sound like I'm stupid and overly suspicious.
rick1027
there are a lot of retailor that sell on ebay many have their own store fronts. ive bought in the past from many and they are more reliable then joe smo who doesnt have much stake in.a lot of these same people sell stuff through amazon
TheMusicLife
Wow, 320$ on a video game. I do suppose that would be to a game-truck, bot farmer, or a Target or Gamestop. Or someone with 25 computers and 25 people to use them...
