AWESOMEEEEEE , haven't read a book in awhile.
Gli
Heh, clicking the links in that article hoping for more information, I'm suddenly looking at one of my own posts.
shinyglove
imo this is nerd only, but yeah soz , just my opinion
Roy_
I...am...getting, that book.
The Fall of Ascalon
That actually intrigues me...that would take place with the King after we left w/ Ruric right?

Free Runner
Nope. It should take place years after Eye of the North. When Ascalon finally falls. Anyway the "Dragonrise" one sounds interesting if it is indeed the second GW2 book.
Breakfast Mc Rit
Well, at least now we can be a little less disappointed when we hear nothing on GW2 in the second half of this year.
Roy_
Ah, let me rephrase, after the Charr started to attack Ascalon again and the King used is sword to raise up the Ascalonian dead.
BrettM
It might cover the whole period starting with the Searing, or even before. Remember, not everyone who picks up the book will be a GW player or know all the background that we do. I think a novel would have to give at least a little information on how and why the conflict began, as well as the years of fighting in Ascalon and the events affecting the Charr in their homelands, to make the resolution of the story understandable.
Darcy
And according to the page on amazon.com, the book is 352 pages long. Should be nice read.

Let's hope it's better-written than the fiction in the prophecies manual!
slowerpoke
speculation, and information we already knew.

Buster
I just hope they won't wait to release the game until all 3 books are out. That would mean a 2011 release and a hell of a wait.
The Scorpion Knight
Going to have to get that.
Helix Dreadlock
for teh win.

Indeed, this books is far past the EotN. Its about when the charr finally finish the war and destroy ascalon as we know it.
Remember the official GW2 note: "Ascalon now belongs entirely to the Charr apart from a single fortress, Ebonhawke. Ascalon City itself is a ghost town, populated by the vengeful spirits of its former citizens who slay all who dare enter. "
So its about everything getting wiped out except 1 last place thats probably some last-stand kind of thing.
Mostly i love that there is finally a book comming out. Its been said by Anet that this book will describe most of the 250years, which likely means that GW2 isnt far off now.

Awesome news Too bad the wait is so long but whatever. I'm getting my hands on that book.
KoKoS
who reads books these days anyway? xD
Puebert
Calvar Draveir
On the one hand, yes, the sentences in the manual just didn't seem to flow... on the other hand, it was awesome anyway. I remember vividly playing through the mission that was depicted in the book, and thinking "wow, I'm actually doing it".

None of this is new information.
And I'm the one who pointed out the information about the second author! Gli only further supported my claim. Why do I get no credit for that? Q_Q
BTW, the date is just a placeholder and is not official people. >_> It may come out sooner now that the first draft was finished last week!
The page number on Amazon.com is also speculated and is not official.

GW mods get no credit.
They are like the heroes undercover.

My post was just about putting all the pieces together to present a good case. I guess it worked because I've seen it linked to in several places now.

Also: please hang in there. We will have news about the books. I don't want to give a time frame because that tends to be misinterpreted -- still, when the information comes out, hopefully people will be excited.

So is it pretty well guaranteed that Guild Wars 2 won't come out before the books? Because the quote on Massively is the first I'd heard of that, don't know if I missed a source somewhere.
(note, the alternative I'd expect to see from ArenaNet would be something like "we're not going to hold the release of GW2 if it's ready before the books, but no guarantees either way")

I'm just wondering how they plan to cover 80+ years in less than 400 pages. And then do it again for each of the other books. Otherwise, sounds cool.
slowerpoke
so the big news at PAX will be them announcing one of these books release date..a year after they announced them initally

All this waiting of knowing nothing just to tell us wait a little longer for the actual release date of a book?
Really now, the carrot is getting old and stale...

The Fall of Ascalon will probably just be the events that happen 30 years after EN. Which could be just one year long.
I'd assume each book just covers certain events. Dragonrise will, imo, be about the rise of Orr mostly, unless there is a direct connection between the rising of the dragons. In which it would cover 80+ years. x) But it doesn't mean all three books will cover 80+ years. And who says all books will be under 400 pages?
wetsparks
Should be an interesting read. Doubt the first two will give us anything worthwhile concerning GW2 unless they are planning the release of the third book after the game has been released. If it is like the article tells it, with two authors releasing semi-close to each other we may have to scavenger out some GW2 nuggets.
UndeadRoadkill
xron
hmm might be interesting to read
Arduin
I would very much appreciate it if the next thread spawned on this forum about the books actually contained official information.
Ghost Omel
Ooh my Droid Circuits are tingling with excitement... a year ago....But i will still scan the books with my awesimnes.. right after i finish reading the REST of my star wars books =)
