So I just wanted to hear thoughts and opinions on having multiple characters. For about two years I only had my necro and my dervish. But now I have a necro, dervish, monk, ele, and sin (also a mesmer in the future)

I just find it daunting to try and play so many characters @_@ So i was just wondering how many characters you have and how you spend time playing them.

Thanks ^_^

I have a Rit, Para, Monk, Mesmer (pvp), Derv, War, Necro, and Sin.

I really only play my Ritualist and Paragon, with my Rit taking up 90% of the time. My mesmer is only there to help me unlock skills with faction or get zcoins on an easy pvp quest. The others are there mostly out of curiosity about the class or when I get bored with my primaries.

I do plan on getting all of them to level 20 (the necro and monk are under 10) so I can use them to replay zquest but right now I want to develop my Rit.

I have too many characters
I have, currently: My elementalist, my monk and my warrior which are all PvE. On top of that, I have two dervishes which I use for storage, a PvP ranger, and a PvP Mesmer. And I'm also working on another PvE character.

I have 8 chars, 1 mule, 1 pvp toon, so 7 PvE total.

ele, sin, mesmer, monk, war, derv, and necro.

It's tough to get them all through PvE. I made my ele when I started, and didn't make so many other until I finished Factions (1st campaign), so yes, it is tough to keep so many. I suggest making ones that are fun, have good farming/money making potential, are useful, and have good armor (if you are picky about that). Some people just have 2-4 toons, finish everything with them, and use the rest as pvp or mules.

I have one character of every profession (except two rangers and two sins, one being a storage mule and the other a A/R so I can actually enjoy the class) just because I have the slots. I like playing with all professions and experimenting with them, but my main is still my ranger. Granted some aren't nearly as far as others but that will give me something to do if I'm ever uber bored. I also still have an empty character slot for a PVP character if I decide to make one and not delete it.

I have my trapper for Z elite, a PvP warr, my perma pre necro, a monk I abandoned at level 5, a Derv which I use the most and my new warr
For the most part I get bored of my characters after a couple months and delete them all to make new ones.....can't seem to stay focused on them...

Five characters for me:

War - Made second, played most.
Ele - Made first, played third most.
Monk - Made third, played least.
Rit - Made fourth, played second most
Ranger - Made last (haven't done much as I only made her two months ago).

Since acheiving pretty much everything I wanted to on my War, I've played my secondary characters a lot more. I tend to play one at a time rather than jumping around each day. Playing my Rit atm because of the spirit buffs.

I have 10 PvE Characters, all beat all campaigns, only 5 I play actively.

Warr-derv-Necro-Monk-Sin have about 7000 hours between them with two GWAMMs (most least played now.)

Other 5 have about 600 between them

Let's see...I have a Dervish, Assassin, Ritualist, Mesmer, Ranger, Monk, and a Warrior, and then my sister has an Elementalist that she plays on my account.

Honestly, I really don't play through everything with all of them. My Dervish is going to be the one that for certain completes everything. The others I just play as my whims dictate; besides my Derv, only the Assassin, Rit, and Mesmer are even fully leveled up.

Eventually they'll all do everything, but it's not likely to be anytime soon.

WHERE DO YOU THINK

W/

War- Main, does everything, FoW-90% of play time
Ranger- Being deleted for Rit as soon as he turns 2 in a week or so
Mesmer- New and being played quite a bit atm.
Monk- Never play, plan to do some stuff on soon
Necro- Second Main, beaten 2 campains
Paragon- Armor storage, deletable if I ever really need a PvP again.
Ele- Farmer mostly, not played much atm, plan to do more
Sin- Farmer, not played much, not going anywhere.

I just love the option to have multiple chars - thanx low level cap.

For me having multiple chars is what keeps the game fresh and makes want to play GW more and more each passing day. BTW...I have 8 PVE chars, many finished all campaigns and are with good weaps and armor. My favourite class? none, but I have no monk and no rit.

GW its the only game that you can do that...all others you have to stick to only one char and grind it to exhaustion if you have any hope of reaching hi-level content.

Removing low level cap is what im most afraid of GW2.

One of the great aspects of GW is the low level cap and accessibility of skills. It allows you to play many different classes and have a unique experience in each.

My main was my ele until nf, now it is my derv, and i have my derv, ele, ranger, sin, rit, para, monk, and a mule warrior.

I have each of one prof in pve, plus 2 pvp chars.

I usually just work on one char at a time. When I get bored of one, I start another so I won't bore myself to death. All of my chars have beat at least one campaign & have a set of elite armor, besides necro. I just make it a goal to get as far with a char as possible.

Ele = Main
Monk, Ranger, Mesmer = Chars I pvp with
Derv = Armor hoar
Sin, Rit, War, Necro = They are kinda just there

<3 The low level cap too, so that I dont spend weeks leveling chars.

I have all the campaigns and EOTN and 8 characters, all level 20 but all still with lots of stuff to do:
  • Ranger - My main character, he's beaten Prophecies and is working on Factions after a brief visit to EOTN.
  • Elementalist - She's a Nightfall character but I'm taking her through Prophecies first to get her some extra skills.
  • Mesmer - She also has beaten Prophecies but I haven't done much else with her lately.
  • Assassin - He's beaten Factions and I'll likely take him through Prophecies next.
  • Dervish - Just beat Nightfall with her, so now I plan to use her for wurm farming for a while.
  • Monk - He's a smiter working on Prophecies, currently chilling at Droks.
  • Warrior - She's one of my newer characters, also from Prophecies and hanging out in LA atm.
  • Necromancer - My second Nightfall character, he's a curses specialist who may go through Factions first.

I am actually one of those with character ADD. I will never achieve anything substantial with any character but I am ok with that. Currently I have 20 characters:
  • 8 Level 20 have been through every campaign (2mo,2Wa,1R,1E,1N,1Me).
  • 4 Level 20 Level 1 survivors (never tried for Legendary)(1P,1R,1E,1Me,1D).
  • 3 Mules (1N,1D,1P)
  • 5 Level 20 Factions/Nightfall/EotN characters (allergic to Prophecies)(2A,1D,2Rt).

One of these days I will finish taking everyone through every campaign. THEN I will pick a primary class. To this day they are all my favorites.

I have one character of each profession, but I consider my mesmer my main character. I spend most of my time developing her and using her for the little PvP I do. But if you want daunting, forget about just multiple characters. Talk to the nutjobs with multiple accounts to worry about.

Got 16 chars, 5 are still lvl2 (bought my secondary account a couple months back so 5 of those char slots have been filled but haven't had any play time). On my main account all 8 chars are lvl20, and most have played through all 4 parts. Half of my total online time has been spent on one char though. My secondary account now has a survivor who has gone through 2.5/4 campaigns.

got lots of characters...5 tyrians, 7 canthans and 6 elonians that I play (2 of the elonians are survivors and awaiting a lag free time to finish level 3)..so thats 16 characters I play regularly. (we wont go to the mules...have almost as many of them).
I have one mesmer for each type--dom, illusion, inspiration, 3 monks, 2 eles, 3 necros--one again for each type--ss, mm, sv, 2 rits--one male one female, one ranger, one paragon and one warrior.
I found it good to completely learn each profession. I never got the hang of sin or dervish (one of the survivors is a dervish)...so I havent played them.

It fun to switch characters and try something that was hard on one and find it easy on another, you figure out what combinations work and which ones dont (without playing discord or sabway)....I do have 4 I work with more than the others and 2 that are played a lot...while my sv and my warrior probably get the least amount of screen time.

I have 8 PvE characters, all level 20 and all have finished at least one campaign, except the ele. They range in age between 2-1/2 to 3-1/2 years old.

Warrior - my main & title hunter - 2997 hrs
Mesmer - My fun to play character - 736 hrs
Monk - I suck at healing, so she is smiter usually - 347 hrs
Ranger - love/hate thing, need to find something I like to do with her - 272 hrs
Ritualist - play her off & on - 446 hrs
Dervish - finished Nightfall with her & got bored - 384 hrs
Necro - learned to love my necro - 441 hrs
Ele - the baby of the bunch, I just got her to level 20 this year - 87 hrs

I also have two PvP mules, and just started a PvP slot for re-rolling.

I have one of every profession except for Dervish (deleted to make a perma-pre).

I play my ele the most, but over the last 4 years, I'd say my main went from Warrior -> Ele -> Monk -> Rit -> Ranger -> Ele. My necro also got lots of play for periods of time as well.

Broken down by profession:

-Warrior: First character, melee got old for me. Still pull out for PvP.
-Ele: My main since titles became a "serious" thing. Working on GWAMM.
-Necro: Oh the fun times before the minion limit. Don't play much anymore
-Monk: I adored monking until Nightfall came out. Not sure what changed, but it didn't feel fun anymore.
-Mesmer: Once in a while. Bought her Vabbian armor because it is beautiful.
-Ranger: My main for a long time. Versatile, fun in PvP and PvE.
-Ritualist: Another former main, they were great, Nerfed into obscurity, and are just now making a comeback (I see another Nerf to spirit spamming soon).
-Assassin: Melee bores me, least played.
-Paragon: Just don't like the profession.
-Dervish: Least favorite profession, Melee, but with constant enchantment management... ugh.

^_^ Thanks for all the replies.
I seem to have a problem of deleting/remaking many characters and it often leads to a dent in my wallet. I'm currently on my third created Elementalist >< I also just made a monk and the only thing keeping me from erasing her is the fancy black armor she wears. I can never get into Warriors :/ The adrenaline thing puts me off, but I like my Dervish. My sin is just for farming/running, so I suppose she'll be gone when the nerf comes. Made a paragon awhile back and decided I didn't want, delete. I don't regret that. And I finally made a ritualist, got to lvl18 or so, and delete on her too. Wish I hadn't xD Why is there no one to stop me!?

For PvE I have an Elementalist, Ritualist, Paragon, Assassin, Dervish, and a Warrior. ( all lvl 20 and multiple elite armors except for the warrior, he only has 1 elite armor set)
For PvP I just have a Necromancer and 1 free slot for whatever I feel like playing.

My Ele and Rit are they ones I play the most. Paragon and Sin I just beat a couple of campaigns on and the Derv and War I got bored of after I beat one campaign.

Remaking / making characters drains money like no tomorrow. All the new armors and weapons and skills....

Personally I have 11 PvE chars (one of each + an extra monk), a perma pre and a PvP slot. The PvE chars are all level 20 and all but 3 have finished all campaigns. I only tend to play 4 of them though:
  • Ranger - First Character, 27/30 titles, working on drunkard and sweet tooth to get up to 29
  • Warrior - 4th created, my new title hunter (mostly just helping guildies though)
  • Monk - Latest character, working on legendary survivor
  • Monk - Second created but retired from normal PvE at the start of Nightfall. She's now my farming monkeh

Occasionally I'll choose to play something else for a change but usually its one of the first 2. If you have a load of characters, you just tend to settle on playing what you enjoy.

I can't be bothered to create a dervish.
I have all other guys but the problem is that when I get bored of a guy or his armour or his haircut or his name or his ... I delete him.
And then remake him again.
So I am currently in the process of remaking my necro, assassin, ele and ranger. I already had those guys and they were all Legendary Survivors. (Outside of the ele I think. Not really sure on the LS part though since I've had so many eles.)
I keep around the warrior and the monk because of how pretty they look in their armours - warrior in Vabbi and monk in Primeval.
I keep wanting to play the mesmer - but because (mesmer's) offensive non-damage options suck in PvE my desire to do so always gets kicked in the balls.
Para is super cute in Vabbi and the concept is actually fun. Having just one really good build is what makes him a bit boring though. Plus, I prefer casters so that's all that's keeping him from becoming my main.
Ritualist sees the most play. Cutest outfits in the whole game and the ability to summon rituals just matches the way I want to play the game the most. So he's the guy with the most maxed titles - 4. He MIGHT actually be the only guy I am not willing to delete.

Hear hear! I'd much rather work my way into new content by experimentation and becoming better as a player than treadmilling...

I have at least one character of each profession myself (plus a mule and a perma-pre Elementalist). I tend to play them roughly equally since I prefer to play a mixed bag of different playstyles rather than pushing one all the time, although my mesmer is my main title-hunter. Non-title-based achievements tend to be spread around, however (the advantage of an account-based Hall. ). A couple of non-Core professions haven't completed Prophecies yet and my Paragon is still sitting in Imperial Sanctum because I haven't bothered to go in and do Shiro in (again) with her, but apart from that all of my characters have completed all campaigns.

Well, having multiple character actually sucks in Guildwars, i have 10, one of each prof, and i like to play them all. But with all Anet does target to make players focus on one main, so little love to multichar players.

Titles are not account wide: it forces me to play with only one char, if titles were account wide i would have 30 titles completed, but i barely have 2 or 3, i have vanquished all of GW but some areas with my warr, some with my ranger, etc.

The skills, doesn't matter if you have buyed that skill 10 times, it always cost to you 1k, and if you try to get all skills for all your characters, to make any build you can imagine, it just insanely expensive, skills you already unlock should be cheaper or cost only 1 skill point and no money.

The heroes, it's tedious to equip all heroes for all characters, so your "forced" main (remember anet forces you to choose a main to get titles) will get his heroes full equipped, and the rest of char will have dropped scum q13. Also armors for heroes, if wew not enough hard to have all for 1 only char, multiply that for 10, heroes equipment should be account wide so when you unlock one it comes with the equipment you gave to him with other char, wonder why minor runes of primary attributes have rised to +1000 gold each? Blame heroes. I need 30 minor strenght for all my warr heroes, if they were account wide, i could be set up with only 3.

Lots of things show anet hate multichar players, and if that attitude is gonna be carried over GW2, i won't buy it, i have been a multichar player since street fighter 2, where everybody played ryu and i liked to test all of them.

So i don't recommend anyone to have more than 1 character in this dying game, you will be just wasting your time.

That's such a stupid thing to stay. If you dont like the game or how it's made, DONT PLAY IT.

I got all there is to have except for dervish, and each and single one of them has at least r1 in the gwamm title, finished all the campaigns and got descent amount of points in the pve skills area. I Know this game inside and out, from every possible perspective caster wise or meele wise.

The time and money I've spent on all characters could've easely been spent on making the gwamm-title several times over, but I choose not to, because I dont give a damn. Dont like the titles and the system? Dont do it! Enjoy the stuff you actually like about Guild Wars instead of coming to this forum and whine like a five year old - no one is telling you anything about what you have to do. Well on my main account have a Male and Female of evey class
and prob a mule or 2

As far as a dent in wallet over the four years the cost is minimal...

Even updated an old prof account with Compilation as was only £24

The other is a Compilation also....I never get tired of playing as switch accounts switch chars ect, plenty of diff skills trying out new builds ect.

It all comes down to ...what you enjoy and how you play no 2 people are the same.

Especially since EOTN I focused mainly on my Necro.
I just do not have the time or will to progress all my PvE chars in the numerous title tracks.

This said, I already had one of each profession before the title craze became dominating and rampant.

I doubt I would have so many chars if I started nowadays.

QFT, all of this.

I don't like to play only one char (to get titles) and i don't have anything left to do (except get titles), and i don't have more time to get titles, i should already had, it leads to boredom, and as i won't get any reward in GW2 as i don't have titles, i don't feel about i'm gonna to buy it, at least soon, maybe when it cost so cheap i could choose between a coke or GW2.
