I don't know about Primordus killing us, as Guild Wars 2 will be about our character's descendants. I hope you char reproduced before Primordus ate him. hehe

In all seriousness, I think your character dies however you want it to, like if you have a storyline going for your character. Or maybe it won't die, maybe your char has eternal life. It's all about your personal preference in my opinion, as these dragons don't actually tear up the world until 250 years later. Humans can't live that long unless they're immortal. So Primordus probably just opened his eye and can't move his body out of that giant rock for 250 years. Ouch, hope he isn't claustrophobic.

As i said previously technicaly pola-arm are both an axe and a hammer and they were wielded with 2 hands.... But regardless.. A hammer is a hammer 2 handed or not...1 handed were used mostly for infantry scurmishes.. while 2 naded were some times used on horses

Speed of a horse + speed of a swing of a 2 handed or a 1 handed hammer is guarnteed kill if hit to the face, chest or abdominal area.. Movies suck at protrayng the devestation power of hammers.. They prefer swords due to mor ebludied scene.. id pic 1 handed hamme rover a sword... 1 crack on a helmet will stun the oponene next crat to the leg.. he on the knees 1 to the visot possible dent which results in it doing right into the face and a KO..

+ chainmail is strong against swords.. hammers its practically useless... Dont underestimate hammers dude +)

Well, looking at some of the concept art (not all confirmed for GW2), especially Construction Site and Gunner, I do think some advances, new weapons, and new professions are out of the question.

I wonder how the offspring of my female Canthan Necro could be a Charr! Bestiality!!!

I would like something more along the lines of an adventurer discovering the tomb of an ancient hero and taking his belongings, maybe even adapting his philosophy and beliefs.

Just like Conan falls into the tomb of an atlantean king in the Conan movie while running away from wolves.

Adoption, descendant doesn't necessarily have to mean direct blood line.

Just in case Anet doesn't think of anything like that, I've already started making characters with GW2 in mind:

Lexx Fluxx (Asuran), Ashpyre Smokeskin (Charr), Bjorn Ragnarok (Norn)...

(yeah, the names aren't too imaginative, sorry)

A character "reborn" as a Sylvari could have "imprints" of a former life, especially if you decide your character dies near the Sylvari Tree.

There are also tons of magical explanations to allow your character to "carry over": a Necro puts himself to sleep for 250 years, only to arise again, for example.

If Chronomancer is a class in GW2, that will make a simple explanation: Character "X" finds a spell that allows him to move through time, she emerges on the other side of a rift with new features and abilities...

You're only limited by your imagination, and, of course, how tied you are to the "official" lore.

EDIT:

Anyone who claims to be a Conan fan needs to read the original Robert E. Howard books. They are not perfect, but they are raw and powerful, and helped create the "sword & sorcery" genre to balance out the "high fantasy" of Tolkien.

I suppose you could be right, Winnie. However my take is that since Ogden says "In the years to come, new threats would arise in Tyria" and then starts showing cut scenes of Liva, Primordious, the Sylvari, and everyone else, those things happen in the future. Some of them in 5 years, some in 50, some in 200, there's no distinction. I would imagine that that scene with Primordious takes place at some point in the future.

I just don't see where the proof is or either argument, however I don't think it's plausible that the intention was that Primordious would wake up at that exact moment and kill us. If nothing else, if Arenanet had wanted that, we would have seen it. And there would be no epilogue where we get to hear the praise after defeating the Great Destroyer.

Ok, this is how it is going to happen. Shortly before the GW2 Beta there will be new content update for GW1 and new quests. These quests would be used to bridge GW1 and GW2 with cut scenes and all.

Many of your questions would be answered then.

This is how we die:

Sometime in the near future, some moron of an asura is going to get to screwing around with rez shrines, trying to make them work faster or something, and in the process short circuits the one he's working on. This causes a chain reaction that disables all of the rez shrines the world over. On top of that, the mystical energies that allow for all manner of resurrections is depleted, rendering all zoning, rez skills & signets useless.

this is very true, and it's a general belief of mine that in a world where magic is reality, magic would supplant a lot of technological advancement.

This post does raise on interesting question. Since we are hundreds of years later by GW2, all our characters will have died. Perhaps we will see a gravestone of a few familiar names (heroes, important NPCs) or have quests based on GW1 mythology in GW2.

I'll die of old age in a small town in Kryta. Or... Zho will kill me after she finds out I'm cheating on her with a threesome with Cynn and Reyna. Either or.

In addition to the Epilogue, Ogden speaks of new threats arising in Tyria and the children of the heroes will be called upon. Leads us to believe that GW2 will be our descendants, but I think it's up to you. If you want it to be an adventurer finding your GW1 char's tomb or something, go ahead. I find that kind of interesting. Reminds me of The Mummy.

Of course, "children of the legends/heroes" could be used in a strictly metaphorical way, as in "the next generation of people."
