Next big update?

Come on ANET, you guys are late with the announcement of what is going to be in the upcoming update(if there is even going to be one at this point)
I keep bringing this up:
http://www.guildwars.com/gameplay/de...ttractions.php
"Content updates will be done separately from the monthly maintenance and occur every three to four months. By spacing out our content releases, we gain the time to tackle larger and more difficult projects that, previously, would've been impossible. Some features that once seemed unattainable are now being explored as upcoming projects. We are even expanding the Live Team to offer more of the best quality support and content that we can for Guild Wars. With this new system, we release our new content in fewer yet more substantial updates. 1. We want players to feel connected to what we are developing even though it may be months away from release, 2. so during development we will be more open about our process and what we are working on.
Coming Attractions for Guild Wars Live
3. Six months ago, we assembled the Live Team with one goal: sustaining high quality support for Guild Wars. We started with smaller changes, getting our feet wet by balancing skills and tweaking AI. After these initial successes, we moved on to title balancing and the golem Hero M.O.X. before finishing off the year with new festival content. As the Live Team looks to the new year, 4. we are streamlining our processes, where we can create even more exciting new features and content than ever before. In this Dev Update, we explain the reasons for some of these changes and reveal tidbits of what we've got planned for the future."
Let's cover this again:
1. Not feeling connected in any way at this point either announce the update or announce that there will be no update due to whatever.
2. What are you working on???
3. Ever since this announcement there have been more and more problems than before. You may want to reexamine the Live Team at some point soon. Skill updates that are late, no developer notes, a total failure of XTH, announcements of festivals/special events late or non existent are not giving us a feeling of "HIGH QUALITY SUPPORT FOR GUILD WARS"
4. Did anyone look beyond the april update? If the process has been streamlined then this stuff should be sailing along smoothly. It does not look streamlined from this end.
If things are running behind just say so. You created the expectation either deliver the goods or state what the delay is. No announcement about the expected update a month or so prior to the projected release date is not keeping people "FEELING CONNECTED". An announcement back in May or June would have met the expectation that was created based on the previous announcement timeline and release of the april update.
If you need to change the content updates timeframe from every 3-4 to every 6-8 then do it!!! No harm in reevaluating the process.

Wait and you'll see the excellent update ANET has in store for us who will still log on to the game. Looks like we may have a lot of new micro transactions. Considering people have so much money saved up these days (Personal savings is at 15 years high in USA), it is the perfect time to roll out those micro-transactions. With China banning Virtual trades, its time to roll out a set of armor commemorating this. Why not call it Verboten Aureate Set aka Dollar Nine Ninety Nine Armors that can be bought from the stylist for the same with almost see-thru option available for additional $15.99? Kidding!

- Nerfing Spirit Bond to kill the 600.
- Nerfing deadly paradox or Shadow form some more to kill the permas.
Can we get some more content? I've finally gathered up the bored energy to venture into DoA only to find its 600'able or perma'able. Sure I don't have to use these methods, but if they're there, I'm going to. It'd be silly not to.
Some more elite dungeons/areas would be fine too

Is that avatar from S.E. Lain?
And yeah,i like 600/smite and SF,its fun for me.
I am like a little child when doing UWSC.
Happy and cant wait to see my finish time.

Update: The in-game store now has an option that allows you to spend $9.99 to see what changes are in store for the next quarterly update before that information has been publicly disclosed.

I want them to go FIX the graphic errors in some places and on some armors, like monk tops not going down to the hips on stuff like luxon armors or the mesh problem on the warrior luxon top for females, or the angular polygon thats been stuck through the stairs near the skill trainer in Kodesh Bazaar since release, or the fact that armors don't dye the same even within the same armor set. Get the artist to go FIX the damn greyscale maps or whatever so they dye the same and the armors match!
Damn graphic errors that have been there for years just piss me the hell off. Sloppy workmanship on Anet's part and they've all been reported in the past and ignored....and they expect me to buy GW2 with this kind of workmanship?

They'll do what they did with other popular farms that were proving too lucrative like the undead mobs on fire island many years ago. They'll add in a skill or three to screw up the runs. They did that there and with tengu outside of bergen hotsprings, so they'll probably do the same thing by adding in some more mobs in the areas that people are able to run past to stop speed clears.
themadhatterxxx
something i dont get: whats the point of nerfing all these farming/speedclearing builds now, this late in the life cycle? if it was so detrimental to the economy and pve mechanics why didnt they nerf them then? At this point everyone has reaped from their benefits already so whats the point? and i don't care either way since my PvE account has been banned soo im not biased in any way
reaper with no name
Because the game is still going on.

ANet said they dislike speed clears, and they're looking at shadow form. It's most likely going to get nerfed. I don't see 55/600 monks getting touched, though.

They acted on the UW problem in the past by adding nightmares....I'm sure that SF is being watched closely as you say for the same reason...Not speed clears for fun, but for the over farming for profit.

Hello Live team, still alive? It would be nice to let the fans know what you're up to. There's no need to keep it a secret if you can't deliver, better put your cards on the table and be honest with us.

Why nerf a skill if area change can make it obsolete and would return some challenge as bopnus. Besides, they can make something cool, like this:
New NPC near first UW quest giver
R/? Melandrus emissary
Skills:
Tranquility
Quickening Zephyr
Nature's Renewal
Energizing Wind
Infuriating Heat
Melandru's avatar model.
Sells Strength of the Oak and Shielding Branches buffs and has some lore tidbit dialogue.
when first quest is completed, she will begin walk to Reaper, have some dialogue and turns to spirit-crapping merchant that everyone will love.

Because having a skill like the shadow form shouldn't be in the game. ANet can do one of two things: nerf shadow form, or try and change every speed clear area. Out of the two options, one is easy, one is pretty major. If ANet were planning on making areas such as UW more challenging, they should give the enemies better skillbars, not add NPCs with skills to counter stupidly overpowered skills.

for example, if you kill perma, you end up with people running old obsi/stoneflesh/sliver splitters and 600/smite combination or any other solo split, and that is not gonna be much slower or solve speedclears.
Unless you wanna kill most of builds that can solo...
aga
IF they do nerf shadow form, i dont think they'll completely get rid of the concept of perma's. I think think they'll add 50% slower movment or something along those lines. If they did kill perma's off for good so many people would quit GW.
MithranArkanere
They'll come back eventually. They always do.
Playing a game just to farm again and again is quite dumb, anyways.

I remember how everyone was saying if ANet nerfed ursan, many people would quit. Most of the players I saw on this forum who said they were going to quit...never did. Also, farmers quitting is barely going to change anything. Guild Wars isn't pay to play, so ANet are losing absolutely nothing but some PvE players. All PvE really is now is a single player game with the ability to play with others, so I don't think ANet are going to lose sleep over PvE players quitting.

Pretty much the only pugs that are formed these days include perma(s). And from what i remeber (i could be wrong, my memory is quite bad =/) very few pugs were formed before permas/ursan (at least groups with a combined IQ of more then a watermelon), so why would that be any different now. would a-net want to create a GW with almost no pugging?

Pretty sure obsidian tanks weren't nearly as powerful as shadow form tanks. I'm also pretty sure 600/smite can't do a full HM UW run in 33 minutes.

A person running imbalanced overpowered builds won't affect your playstyle (unless you party him lol), this whole Pve is too easy crap never convinced me. You want some challenge? Go with 6 people, or enter an area with 5 skills or anything else. I don't see the need of posting on a forum acting like some sort of guru (I'm not being personal, I'm just talking about a general attitude of posters on this forum) englighted by the light of a thousand years of PVE while the rest are a blob of mediocrity.
My 2 cents.

i think they try to balance the game so its not like wow where specific classes are DPS or tanks or healers...ya know.

As for the farmers leaving not costing Anet anything... you're not thinking long term, and your PvP vs. PvE hostility is showing. Most of the players are PvE and if Anet does something that drives them away, it costs them player goodwill and, subsequently, those players' purchases of future products. There are a LOT of farmers, and if they all ragequit, Anet will feel it, even if it's a minority of the sales overall, 100,000 out of 1,000,000 is only 10%, but they'll feel that loss.
And that's ignoring the fact that it's not generally the PvPers who buy extra accounts for muling/permapre storage, etc...
