runes? what to do....

You know when you identify some trappings, gear, etc., it says rune such-and-such unlocked. Can you do something with it? Or is it just for salvaging material still?

(sorry if this is a noob question)

that rune is now permanently unlocked on your account for pvp characters.

expert salvage the rune to get it if you want to for a pve character
