Changing Serial

Hi all,

I'm very new to Guild Wars and just learning the first edition of the game. As I'm enjoying it alot my parents bought me the Guild Wars Special Edition from Ebay as I had been using the downloaded client, but I did buy a serial so I could play the full game.

My question is can I remove my current licence and replace it with the new licence from the special edition as I understand it adds a few extras. Also shall I uninstall Guild Wars and reinstall from the disc that came in the special edition box?

Thanks in advance.

You can add other editions of the game to get the extra items/bonuses. You will not however get extra character slots. You do not need to uninstall the game either for it to work. :]

Thank you for the very quick reply.

Thats great so I can just add my new serial and remove my old one. I had planed to sell my old licence on Ebay hoping to give my parents the money for the game back as they also bought me the Factions game too (sealed).

I did have a thought though about the licence, what if the person my parents bought the game from didn't remove it from there account what do I do? I do have the original card the serial is printed on.

You can't technically "remove" it. Once you use the serial code it cannot be used again. Which is the problem with buying used accounts or ebay accounts. If for some reason you cant use your code you'll need to purchase a sealed copy/unused game.

Access Keys cannot be used more than once. Do not sell it on eBay.

if you try to sell the access key on EBay your Auction will be removed - it's both against EBay and Anet's policies to sell accounts and or used access keys. To do so would violate the EULA - you are better off keeping both and having a storage account to use.

People sell used GW all the time on ebay, it's a small loophole because it's not the "Account" if you're getting the box and the contents as well.

ohh I didn't know that.

Well it doesn't matter as I have really messed up somewhere. I went to the ncsoft website, logged onto my account, click on my game account and noticed its showing "Trial" and the Serial Code ends in "86DB6" which is not my serial ending. I've clicked on the "Use a Serial Code" and entered my original serial code but I get "Invalid Serial Code" so I clicked on the "Upgrade Account" and entered my number but got "Invalid Serial Code". So my ncsoft account is showing:
Account Type: Trial
Account Status: Playable
even though I've been playing it for more than 14 days and more than 10 hours so I'm stumped.

And this is where the buyer hits a major problem with having to pay separately for an account which equates into playing for the full game all over again.

Even if he gets the box/manual, the content is downloaded from Anet directly anyway.
