What will you think be futured on GC?
cainthered
As the title suggests,
what do you think there will be regarding GW2 on GC Germany?
A beta would be too much but maybe some more info about the upcoming features that we don't already know of or a trailer just like the very first GW gameplay trailer, you know, the one that looked like WoW?

I really did not know where to put this, so I just posted it here, seeing as it is about speculation!

I'll personally be extremely surprised if we get anything more substantial than a new batch of concept art.
Helix Dreadlock
I thought you werent allowed to make threads like this :O
Anyways, I know it's either human, charr, sylvari, and Norn that's play-able.

There was confirmation that they will be there? All I've seen is confirmation of attendance at PAX. Last year at Leipzig the stand was shared between Aion and GW. No prizes for which will take precedence this year.

This is how rumors get started. Have Anet confirmed they'd be there, or that they'd talk about GW2? Expecting things like this out of shear hope usually ends up in disappointment.

i wouldn't build your hopes up too much
gw2 is still currently no more than a paragraph of lore

They said that they will attend PAX and GC IIRC

NCsoft is attending Leipzig at the end of July 09. But with Aion scheduled for September 25th, I assume there will no GW2 related news.
A recent post by Regina Buenaobra about how "far away" PAX was, when it were in fact less than two months away, also suggests that there are no big GW2 related thing planned at the moment.
Although Aion gameplay videos existed three years before its launch, I would not get my hopes up of seeing GW2 related materials. ArenaNet does it differently in that department, whether you like it or not.

Did a bit of digging and NCSoft are listed as attending GC, so I apologise for my previous comments. However this does NOT mean that ArenaNet will be there, or there will be any stand space for Guild Wars or Guild Wars 2. Even last year the stand was insanely Aion orientated, imagine what it'll be like now (2 months till Aion EU launch).
Its 2 and half weeks til the show opens - if ArenaNet will be at GC the official announcement as such is due any day now (last year they announced on the 4th August and the show started the 20th). If ANet are there, I'd be pleasantly surprised to see any promotion of GW2 (and believe me I'd love to see it, just being realistic).

Ofcourse I don't really expect anything, but it would be a nice bonus and heads-up don't you think?
Could be that they suddenly release loads of info for the sake of the element of surprise!
BTW, in the article you posted, they stated that NCsoft goes to GC 2008, so there is still hope! xD

Aion is the only thing they're going to talk about.
I'll be taking bets all week.

My personal bet: 99% chance it's all about Aion, I hope I loose.
Regina Buenaobra
Martin will be at GC in Cologne, and a few others from ArenaNet, but the focus for NCsoft as a whole will be Aion.
And yes ArenaNet will be at PAX. (And so will Aion and City of Heroes). :-)

From Regina's statement I think we can safely assume No.

Given this (and that it has been recently stated we'll get more info "later this year"):

I think we will see GW2 at PAX.

Well, I could always hope!

I'd love to be in Leipzig! It's always a pleasure to meet the Anet guys and Martin is a fun, fun, fun guy. So Regina when do we see you in Europe? ;P
Kattar
Called it. Where's my money?

Everytime you have ArenaNet in the same sentence as PAX you use a big smiley. Curse you hopeful heart!!!

Agree. It seems to me like PAX would be a perfect time for ANet (& NCSoft) to release some GW2 info, or begin to. Aion's buzz will have reached peak - which I think it's already riding now, and will be releasing just a bit over two weeks later. It's foreseeable that they'd want to start building the hype for their next big thing. I won't expect anything major if so, but maybe some additional concept art and posters. Maybe we'll get lucky with things on the major side like screenshots, trailers or actual gameplay. That's a bit of a dream I suppose. Sure would be nice though
Ravious
Especially if they use PAX as a way to rope more people towards AION.
"Hey, Guild Wars fan, come check out the new GW2 stuff, and btw we have computers over there to play Aion. Enjoy!"

I've been helping to run relatively large-scale fandom conventions for over 10 years, which is something I've done for fun/hobby. Though being an exhibitor at a con is a different experience from actually running a con.

Last year, around this time of year, ArenaNet came out and made a very clear statement "We will not be showing GW2 at PAX". They have not (so far) made that statement again this year, and have generally avoided the topic and been vague about the whole thing, combined with the Facebook stuff (apparently will be used for something big) and "More info on GW2 later this year".

Indeed =)
Funny thing of optimism is:
it doesn't really always help you out, but it annoys enough people to make it worth your while
Whoopsie, Gamescon looks cool also too bad I amm in Poland on a training camp when it takes place

It's not the £80+accomodation which is the problem, it's the time!
To everyone thinking about going: don't miss this opportunity to share a drink with Martin! I mean to enjoy a great Community Manager
I'm going to mention this to a good friend in Hamburg (the one who enjoyed my second Eve statue and GW artbook )
