Noobish question about using insight scrolls
moon sunstar
Hi
I am fairly new to the game (3 months) so this question may well have been answered before
I have a character I want to level up & want to make the best use of insight scrolls that need a boss killed every 5 minutes
It occured to me that there may be bosses close to zone portals & if so it would then be possible repeatedly rezone killing such a boss over & over without risking losing the +XP from the scroll
With this in mind can someone point me in the direction of information on boss locations ?
Any other tips appreciated
thanks

Do scrolls even stay active when you zone?

Good point - they probably dont - sorry havent played the game for very long and this is the first time I am using these scrolls
I guess the question then becomes which is the best area for bosses to make use of such scrolls

The effect of a scroll wears off after zone'ing, indeed.
The only thing I can think of is Mapping Out by Aylee Sedai. You can (indirectly) display all bosses in an area based on it's Elite Skill or Green Drop. Of course not all bosses have Green Drops or Elite Skills*.
Shouldn't this be moved to Q&A?
*I think Prophecies Bosses get Elite Skills from Desert and so on. Factions and Nightfall probably has some bosses without Elite Skills on the beginner isles. But don't pin me on that.

Yeah, this belongs in the Questions & Answers forum.
Firstly, do you only have prophecies? If i know which campaign you have then i might be able to think of some bosses bunched up together. (rather idiotic question, but just checking)
Also, how far are you in that campaign?
The links that Enon posted should help you well enough, good luck!

If you have the factions campaign, then there are two bosses right outside the door of the Unwaking Waters Mission, on the Kurzick side, and probably another boss or two just a minute away. In Nightfall, several Kournan bosses plants and bugs and Corsairs) are in the Marga coast, a short walk from a town. Head out and pop your scroll as you see the first boss, and then move quickly through the rest.
Those two strike me as the fastest places to do this.
If you are limited to JUST Prophecies, then your job is more difficult, I think. A long walk into Mineral Springs, and then you can look for the Avicara bosses along the western and northern sides. Once you see the first one, pop your scroll, kill and move.

this is a map of elona, showing bosses. Others above me have pointed out another resource to use (Mythos).

Any map concerned with "greens" or elite skills is about bosses.
Good luck!

Raptors. The boss is a 40-second walk away & is surrounded by 33 more enemies.

Changing zones will remove the Scroll's XP bonus. So you would need to stay in the same zone for it to stay active, as well as kill a boss within the time frame to keep it running. So finding a boss near a portal won't do any good, you would want to find a zone with several bosses within a 5 minute radius of each other.
Hunter's is decent, but Heroes would be better as it lasts 10 minutes no matter what. Heroes Insight also has several collectors to obtain them for 'free'. But if you want to use Hunter's, don't zone, and find a boss within 5 minutes to keep it active. Possibly the easiest place to have several bosses close enough together would be in Drazach THicket. 1 Mesmer, 1 Necro, and 2 Rit bosses all close together, and a Ranger not too far off.

And remember that the 5 minutes includes the time needed to kill the boss, not just travel time.

All: If he needs to level up new char, he would probably hit L20 by time he would reach areas you suggest ^^, he is not XP farming it seems
OP: I recomend focusing on quests which will give you a lot more XP and using theese scrolls without any other consideration than "Am I going to kill lots of enemies in this explorable?", just pop em when you see biggroup of enemies and don't worry about refresh effects: You will either get em (yay, free bonus) or not (who cares, you will have to zone soon anyway to get quest reward and new quest). Each scroll is good enough to be worth it even without extending duration.

Factions has a lot of small areas with some bosses.
You can kill the ranger boss in Drazach Ticket near the portal to Saint Anjekas Shrine or Byzzr in Melandrus Hope.(Pretty safe and easy)
Vizunah Square has a lot of bosses also.

Just do quests and missions, GW is not a grind game, you should never find yourself in a position where you would need to grind exp to level up.
Bytor
If you have Nightfall, Marga Coast, along the shore has 4 or 5 bosses and a few other bosses inland nearby, it's easy to keep an Insight scroll activefor 30 mins there.

ty for the replies - in the end I didnt bother trying to find an area with lots of bosses (I had already used a few scrolls with a 55 monk farming the droks troll cave)
I just got myself to augory rock as quickly as possible where I was level 17 (via being run & doing the minimum number of missions needed)
Defeating my doppleganger then took me to level 20 straighaway
