Question about Legendary Defender of Ascalon
RevenantS
Has this title been in the game since release or was it implemented at some point in an expansion? I just came back to the game and I've got a warrior with a ton of played time and FoW armor that I bought when ectos were going for 20k I'd hate to know that this title existed way back in the original release of the game and I didn't know about it.

It was added in a later update (not sure on an exact time), after people had already tried to get lvl20 in pre.
BulletStopper
The first titles where added in the 25 April 2006 update. But Legendary Defender wasn't added at that time.
LoneManWolf
it was added AFTER someone found the glitch to death level in pre
they were too lazy to fix it... as usual so they just made a RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing title out of it... go figure...

Artisan Archer
They did fix it, but since people already had lvl 20 in pre, they decided after a month or two that it wouldn't be fair to make it impossible and they rewarded their creativity with a title.

Correct,
This all started because it was found that outside of Ashford Abby you can have a pet kill you at the res shrine and it gains lvls.
Here are my guesses how this all developed.
Guess 1) Someone wanted a lvl 20 pet and found a pet at the res shrine and let it kill them over and over again cause they liked the graphic of the bird clawing them to death
Guess2) Someone wanted to discover how to lvl to 20 in pre and dreamed up dling there
Guess 3) is more likely. Other games exist where if you die the foe gains lvls Final Fantasy 7 comes to mind where i lvled while doing something similar.
Guess 4) - this is MOST likely. someone was playing and stepped away from the computer to do whatever else. When they came back, they were being killed at a res-shrine. The shrine would then bring them back to life and then the foe killed them again and gained lvls. They must have been like, WTH? This thing lvl'd? And from there it was born - Death Leveling
The creators thought that this was such an interesting use of tallent and just plain creativity that they invented a title...Legendary Defender of Ascalon.
Now what exactly you are defending is the real story. Most people have over 125,000 deaths to achieve this title. So what are they defending?
It is a very kewl title though and I am currently lvl 18 and 91% of the way to my next lvl
