A quick and pretty unthought-out idea, maybe add a feature to the weapons part of the monuments, you can add any max damage weapon to your rack, but anything that isn't Destroyer or whatever the other weapon class is, doesn't count towards your achievements and won't unlock anything/give you any "credit" - basically it'd be a purely aesthetical addition to your weapons rack.
This is because there are a lot of people who have their own favourite skins of weapons or are just content showing off their own take of their character's weapon-choice instead of chasing after the "prestige" weapons in the game, and although there isn't anything much "special" to have, say a max dmg suntouched scythe or something like that, they may really love that weapon graphic or they may think that it blends really well with their character so they'd like to have it on display as a weapon in their hall of monuments.
I dunno, just a random suggestion
Hall of Monuments weapon rack

I actually like that idea. I think having it to where you can only have Destroyer or Tormented weapons is kinda lame. There is so many other great weapons out there that would be perfect to put up in the HoM. I mean, what's the point in 100k VS if you can't admire it in your HoM? They should set it up to allow some of the hard to get weapons be the ones that you can set up in your HoM, instead of only Destroyer and Tormented.
My idea for the weapon rack would be what is essentially a gallery. Have a slot for each skin in the game (to save space in the HoM have only one rack visible at a time, organized by campaign or what have you) that requires a max damage version of that weapon in order to be added to the monument. Not only would this give players something to collect, but it would increase demand in what are generally considered to be less desirable skins for the purpose of collecting, which might give the in game economy a little nudge in the right direction again.
The HoM isn't a showcase. How many times do you visit someone elses HoM or how many times does someone else visit yours? The ONLY reason it is there is a storage place for your GW2 transfers. I can't stand the Destroyer or Tormented skins, but I don't need my weapons displayed there anyway. Only thing I care about is what it may provide me for GW2, and there is a reason Anet chose not to allow any weapon to provide that.
Leave them to work on fixing bugs, balancing skills, and finishing GW2.

So if there are different dev teams, why are people always prattling on about 'don't bother the devs they are making gw2'? Is it just blinding ignorance?

my weapon rack will remain empty until they do something like this. I hate the destroyer & tormented weapon skins. If they want to keep it to some sort of prestige weapon, they could add in the weapons that you could craft at the end game, such as the Deldrimor weapons at the end of Prophecies, or perhaps the Celestial or Zodiac weapons from Factions, etc. then I might actually start putting weapons in there.
I'd consider doing some stuff like that, or even better, putting in weapons of my choice, as the OP suggests, although I have a feeling that all of this has been suggested before. They have to do something though because there's no way I'm going to bother shelling out for the Tormented or Destroyer Weapons.

We should be able to add deldrimor weapons to Monument of Valor because:
- are gold weapons(like Destroyer and Tormented weapons)
- are craftable(like Destroyer and Tormented weapons)
- are inscriable(like Destroyer and Tormented weapons)
- are endgame weapons(like Destroyer and Tormented weapons)
- are more expensive than regular weapons(10k each and Destroyer are 5k each)

I could also see this turning into a situation where you see half the weapons being sold as "dedicated."

They're so common these days. So it's not like they're rare either.
Besides. The hall of monuments is for gw2 unlocks. It could relate to gw2's story or lore. So letting you add in every single darn weapon is impossible.

There's a simple solution to this: add them. There's a crafter on the Divine Path, change him so he crafts Zodiac/Celestials. Make 'em gold with inscription slots and then they're the same as the Deldrimor, Tormented and Destroyer only not nearly as ugly as the latter two (I will admit I do like some of the Deldrimor stuff).

really I do
